You should be able to remove individual window managers as long as their package does not require (and remove) packages that also belong to other packages or major components. Using either apt commands or the synaptic package manager, remove the packages desired, but before confirming the transaction, make sure that there are no unexpected packages also being removed.

Sorry to ask, but, I have never understood the logic of this? If you are going to run Xfce on Antix; why the devil do you not just install MXLinux 17.1 instead??

One obvious answer: choice – you can, and some people prefer adding not only the window manager or desktop of their choice, also the applications and tools of their choice.

MXLinux is an excellent Xfce-based, easy to use, simple to install system. Within our own community, happily it is not the only choice.

In addition to choice, do it yourself (DIY) types learn new things and custom configure not only packages, but also the configurations within the package groups, so there may be those who choose to build such things.

I’ve put MX-like tools and packages on other systems many times, and I’ve also build custom, heavy weighted systems and applications from an antiX base, at times just for practice, experimentation, to share examples, or just for the sake of the exercise.
