This is happening in AntiX v21.4, with a zzz-IceWM desktop:
I’ve never actually made use of a 2nd workspace, so I’d like to remove those icons from the TaskBar.
Settings/Preferences/TaskBar/
I unchecked both TaskBarShowWorkspaces and TaskBarWorkspacesLeft.
But, the workspaces icons remained visible on the TaskBar. I thought, perhaps they’ll vanish via a reboot? A second before I moved to reboot, they left the TaskBar. I saw them down at the right end, for a moment before they vanished entirely. BUT – they came back after a reboot, and the items in settings/preferences/taskbar rechecked themselves. The workspaces icons are right back where they started, near the left end of the TaskBar.
What am I missing?

::Please try saving the changes and then restarting icewm… it’s wierd but many changes, even if you save them, don’t stick, and you have to edit icewm’s config file to make them stick (ex: changes to the clock)
Please note that I usually don’t run icewm, I run fluxbox with ft10, so that may have changed in icewm’s latest versions…Edit: you should edit, in the config file ~/.icewm/preferences, the line that says:
TaskBarShowWorkspaces=1and change it to:
TaskBarShowWorkspaces=0Save the changes and restart your computer/session

::Hi, PPC! Thanks for the reply.
I did as you advised, and edited the /.icewm/preferences file, to turn off those flags. Then, I rebooted, and your suggestion worked like a charm. No more workspace icons in the TaskBar.

::After you made your changes in menu > Settings/Preferences/TaskBar/
you should have gone to
menu > Settings/Preferences/Save changes
to make the changes permanent.Then this way also works.
