Hi
I have an old Asus eeepc. When I login, the login screen switches to a very low resolution (maybe VGA).
This problem is specific to the login screen. After entering the ID/password, the screen resolution switches to normal (1024×600) on the desktop.The solution here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/794074/login-screen-resolution doesn’t work because there is no grub file in /etc/defaults/
I have found answers involving xrandr but that returns command not found. Same applies to xdpyinfo.
Any tips and pointers would be much appreciated.

::Hi
After working my way through the link posted above, the screen resolution on the login screen was correctly set, but the ID/password entry boxes remained oversized.I then went to this link: https://askubuntu.com/questions/73804/wrong-login-screen-resolution and completed each step to 7. We need to now run this in lightdm, navigate to the correct folder:
cd /etc/lightdm
There is no lightdm folder, probably because the thread is so old and out of date.

::I have one Emachines mini-laptop which is Acer made. antiX uses slimski login manager and login windows is big, which is a good thing. About your screen resolution, what tells xrandr command?
Edit. Emachines is Acer build.

::The first solution in the link posted is about the boot screen resolution, but you want a solution for the login screen.
antiX uses slimski as login manager.If understanding you right this might could be helpful

::Hi
Only just recently installed AntiLinux, so still finding my way around. Slimski and other programs are new to me.I can see the screen resolution changing (correctly) during the boot. When the login screen shows, the screen resolution behind is correct 1024×600, but the font size of the login/id fields look oversized relative to other text etc.
This is a minor issue. I anticipated that this would be a simple fix, but not so.Thanks for all of your advice, but this isn’t important enough to waste any more of your time.
