        What about
        sudo killall -TERM X

        Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

          If you want to kill Xorg, which brings you back to login window, the command is

          sudo killall Xorg

            sudo killall -TERM X
            this command says no such process found

            sudo killall Xorg
            this command restarts the xserver but does not stop

              sudo killall Xorg && sudo pkill slimski
