      Hi there,

I installed the package “Arduino” and it had a lot of dependencies. After installation I wanted to uninstall it. The package installer showed me the dependencies but not how I could tag them and uninstall them. Can this be done?

So if I uninstalled “Arduino” only, a lot of rubbish would be left behind. I tagged all dependencies manually (stupid me!) and uninstalled everything. However there is an “uninstall” and an “uninstall and remove everything”. I had chosen the first. Ok, still a lot of space was wasted and wanted to clean these unused packages.

I found on the net the next command:

      sudo apt-get autoremove

and all the dependencies were removed.

      Next time I’ll use “sudo apt-get remove –auto-remove <package name>”

I would suggest to add this to the “How to install software” information section. It shows how to climb up a stair but not how to get down a stair.

BTW: my antiX distro still works 🙂

Hi Albert, just for information, if you use antiX21, the newest, then there is even a button for the “sudo apt autoremove” in control-centre under programms.
autoremove is one more reason to use apt with the terminal for eg. updates or de/installations IMO.
The terminal will always remember you, that there are packages on your system not any more needed and can get autoremoved.(I would still not automate this with one command, but always look carefully at what is being removed.)
But I think you are right about your suggestion.
