      Hi folks,
I wanted to upgrade the whole system and run apt {update, dist-upgrade}.
Then I wanted upgrading the kernel and headers (for NVidia propritary driver) and found the latest antix.1 kernel image
is versioned 5.8.16 but there are no header files for that version.

      What did I wrong?

hello, I can see the headers in antiX repository

        $ apt-cache search linux-headers-5.8.16-antix
        linux-headers-5.8.16-antix.1-amd64-smp - Linux kernel headers for 5.8.16-antix.1-amd64-smp on amd64
        linux-headers-5.8.16-antix.1-486-smp - Linux kernel headers for 5.8.16-antix.1-486-smp on i386
        linux-headers-5.8.16-antix.1-686-smp-pae - Linux kernel headers for 5.8.16-antix.1-686-smp-pae on i386

          .
          edit:
oops, I hadn’t seen post#2 when posted the screenshot

The separately installable headers package is not auto-installed along with a given kernel, its installation must be manually requested.

          if your system is 64-bit:
          sudo apt install linux-headers-5.8.16-antix.1-amd64-smp

The easiest way to install a new kernel in antiX is always to use the package-installer, which will autmaticaly install the matching
            headers.

It is not generally always the best to install the latest kernel for the nvidia driver.
The current nvidia driver from buster (418.152.00-1), is only tested up to Linux-kernel 5.7
The legacy driver for older cards only up to kernel 5.4
            See here
            https://packages.debian.org/de/buster/nvidia-driver
            https://packages.debian.org/buster/nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver
So you should choose an appropriate kernel, depending on your card, if you are in doubt, post here the output of inxi -Gxx

There’s also an easy way to install the nvidia-driver
            menu > control-centre > drivers > nvidia-installer
