      Hello Friends!

      1. I downloaded antiX-21_x64-full.iso
This is the latest stable version, correct?

      2. I’ve learned how to verify the md5 and sha256 files. How do I check the sig file?

      3. Also, how do I check the zsync file?

      Thank you for your time.

        Hi!

        1.- Correct!

On the rest of your questions, please check here: https://antixlinuxfan.miraheze.org/wiki/How_to_install#Verification_of_the_integrity_of_the_ISO_file

Hey guys, thanks for the response.

Regarding the sig, from this site:

            https://antixlinuxfan.miraheze.org/wiki/How_to_install#Verification_of_the_integrity_of_the_ISO_file

            I first tried this:

            gpg --keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 4A0C4F9C

which resulted in this: gpg: keyserver receive failed: Server indicated a failure

            Then I tried this:

            gpg --keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys B9B6375C 0679EE98 892C32F1

which also resulted in this: gpg: keyserver receive failed: Server indicated a failure

Let me just reiterate that both md5 and sha256 checked out. I just wanted to check the signature also, just to be sure. But if you think it’s unnecessary, then let me know also.

            Thank you

On a side note, do the md5 and sha256 of the downloaded iso change if I move it from it’s original download location (eg /home/user/Downloads) to somewhere else (eg my flashdrive or another partition on the hard drive) ? I’m asking because I think it’s changed. File corrupted during the move?

Second side note, if I download the iso from the U.S., would it have the same md5 and sha256 as the one from another location, say U.K.?
              – update on secode side note. i checked. apparently the md5 and sha256 are the same no matter where you download it from.
              – however, why are there two versions of the antiX here: https://antixlinux.com/download/
antiX-21-sysVinit and the other is antiX-21-runit
I assume the one I downloaded is the antiX-21-sysVinit ?

Hi Kaye, the md5 and sha256 of the downloaded iso should not change if you move it from one to another place.

If you go to the download page of this forum and scroll down you find the md5sums and sha256 of the isos, so yes they are the same in different countries. You will also find there a guide for the signature verification of the ISO.

Edit to answer your edit:In the antiX21 release information are 2 notes from anticapitalista
Note 1: antiX devs advise users to download and use the sysVinit versions ie any iso files NOT in the runit folder.

Note 2: runit editions now set up in a similar way to Void/Artix.
Users should be prepared to familiarize themselves with how runit services work.
                https://antixlinux.com/blog/
Nevertheless, a series of users prefers the runit version, for eg it’s faster.

hello caprea, my md5 and sha256 changed. Does this mean the file was corrupted during the move?
I moved it from hard drive to flash drive then to another hard drive.

                    I guess it’s corrupted.

Moving a packed archive and unpacking where needed gives no issue.
                      (hopefully not famous last words)
                      Done many times.

Possibly a change in metadata due to copy is to blame for checksum being different.
