::Well, it was late at night when I replied and I was punch drunk from day time physical workout outside. So all I posted was my experience with the same problem and what I figured out I did to break things. Skidoo is right. Preferences.d and package installer should not break this like I broke mine.
But being tired. I kinda assume anymore members don’t give the whole story on what they are doing. So I call it like a I see it.
Since you say systemd did not get pulled in somehow.
That is good enough for me.You probably found a bug with the package installer with the xfce-lite install option.
Since this the only thread on XFCE-Lite Install I know of. I am going to edit your thread title just a little.
Hope you don’t mind.Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.

How to Search for AntiX solutions to your problemsMarch 6, 2018 at 10:14 am #7398Anonymous
::When you show hidden files in the home folder is “./fehbg” there mine shows
“#!/bin/sh
feh –bg-scale ‘/usr/share/wallpaper/pier.jpg’ ”to set the wallpaper in icewm. If not you could recreate the script or add
the feh line to icewm startup file “~./icewm/startup.sh” and that will set
the wallpaper each time you start icewm. Not sure why control panel wallpaper
quit though.March 6, 2018 at 10:42 am #7399Member

::@caprea,
the apt History log indicates the removal of a broken install of gdebi a couple of days ago, removing gdebi-core, gdebi y python3-apt. IAs I recall, the problem existed before that, but it’s been a while and I am accustomed to the black screen.

::@caprea,
the apt History log indicates the removal of a broken install of gdebi a couple of days ago, removing gdebi-core, gdebi y python3-apt.And it won’t, because this install is from a snapshot of antiX-esm with. Xfce4-lite added.
I’m going to reinstall the snapshot to see if the problem exists before removal of gdebi.
As I recall, the problem existed before that, but it’s been a while and I am accustomed to the black screen.
BRB, in a few hours.

::Thanks for the tips and ideas.
I believe there may be a problem with the Xfce4-lite metascript. I’ll be happy to test depending on internet access.
I dug around on my old desktop and found a snapshot of my basic antiX-17_386 with favorite setup: IceWM, SpaceFM, DoubleCommander, LibO-5.4, CherryTree & Slimjet.
Installed it on my 64bit laptop: MX17x64 & AX17x32 with IceWM. Even after years of using Xfce, the speed of booting IceWM makes me smile.
It’s especially impressive from the SSD.Thanks again for all your support. I really need a working antiX to see how the trsnslated literals fit in various apps.
I’ll leave the other install on the netbook for awhile in case someone has a question.
But also going to put a clone/snapshot with IceWM as well.Regards, Richard.

::@skidoo,
[output of “sudo ps_mem.py” or htop]
Don’t see thunard any where, but Dave was right:
LightDM is running!Must’ve been in a weak moment; what some call a senior moment.
I opened the list of things installed with Xfce4-Lite, but don’t see anything unusual.
BTW, in the above where says, antiX-esm, it probably means antiX-17.

::Well if you do not want it, then apt-get purge lightdm && apt-get install sljm
