::I will, quietly ask softmaker if a recompile to newer librarys can be considered. The package is closed
source so no legal/practical way for that with present licence terms. For users anticapitalista posted sometime ago AntiX 19 will supported at least as long as the underlying
Debian 10 “Buster” on the debian pages the planning shows i386, amd64, armel, armhf and arm64 are all intended
go in to long term support from July, 2022 to June, 2024. I recently read there is an ongoing discussion towards
further extending the period as Buster is used on so many devices where an update to the newer version
would be either not possible or very expensive. My personal assumption is above may, probably will be quoted by softmaker support. They certainly know the package
runs fine on Buster. As the packet is not open source I think there is little chance of getting of to run by bundling the missmatching
librarys similar to an appimage, it would want to load things from the wrong place. But might be crazy enough to
work. What errors did you get exactly on your failed install ?.

::Thank you Moddlt.
What errors did you get exactly on your failed install ?.
When you start the program for the first time, a screen appears where you can choose different types of menus.
After selecting the desired style you try to open a new document and the program will never open again. It seems to try but does not finish opening.April 5, 2022 at 9:57 pm #80712MemberPPC
::@Aleph_Sev – Please try launching Freeoffice from a terminal, and copy and past here any errors that appear, related to Freeoffice.
If you don’t know how to start Freeoffice from the terminal: antiX Menu > App-select > search for “Softoffice”
On App-select the field “Exec” tells you the command needed to run Softoffice from the terminal…
antiX Menu > Terminal > and run the command that app-select showed you in Softoffice’s “Exec” field.P.

::Damn… It seems there’s not much we can do with that error, I’ve seen it before here in the forum: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/dont-work-freeoffice/#post-70162
Try to follow Xecure’s advice, but don’t expect textmaker to work with antiX 21…
Edit- you can also try your luck with the .deb file I found and linked to in that thread…

::@PCC thanks, but unfortunately a similar problem occurs with the file in that link.
That is not the free version, it is the full version. You can continue the 30 day trial period but then the program hangs again, offering the opportunity to send the crash to Soft Maker and closes.I think I’ll stick with Libre Office on Antix21 32bits. Fortunately it runs smoothly enough on my laptop.
SoftMaker looks like it’s going to be impossible to use it on Antix21. Anyway, if I needed to use it I have already installed it on a partition with Antix19 and it works fine. 🙂Thanks for everything folks.

“As it seems there is a lib incompatibility I am wondering whether the available softmaker 32 bit version will run on an older antiX, maybe try 19.4 on a live stick.
Unfortunately I have no usable 32 bit device so can not meaningfully test. The package may run on my box due compatibility packages but fail on pure 32 bit, or other way around, run on older antiX on an older device.
Regarding libreoffice on older device you can make it start slightly faster using the –norestore option plus setting HideEula=1 Logo=0 in the sofficerc file, that can be found in libreoffice/programm.
Easiest way to see where LO package is installed is to use synaptic which shows installed files and more importantly where they are installed to. Knowing that It will possibly help you many times later.”
