I would have wished that it would have noticed that it was low on battery and hibernated. I say that because I don’t know if suspending automatically would have saved me. Maybe if it had been done with enough battery left it would have held long enough.

If anyone has already implemented or come up with a way to solve it, let me know, please.

What problem did you encounter? I mean aside from getting rested (both you & your PC). 😉

Battery dies, system halts. On reboot get lost cluster errors. Hopefully no program editing lost. I forget what I was doing is probably the worst problem because I use web based email and so lose track of what in particular I was looking at or doing.

Its not terrible, but I would like it to notice that the power is low and just hibernate until spring comes, and I wake up. That would be cool!

PS: I used to have a script running to pop up a visible and audible alert, but with the headphones plugged in and me sleeping, it wouldn’t have helped. Maybe I’ll look to see if one of the power manager programs already has this ability already built in.

If you were working in the cloud (gmail or whatever) chances are that nothing much happened to your ‘stuff’. If it was email, it was probably spam anyway (that’s what I seem to ‘specialize in’).

The lost clusters are almost always no big deal. Linux is simply cleaning up from an ungraceful shutdown (crash).

If you don’t want to have your laptop plugin in while you computer and check your eye lids for light leaks, you can set most power savers to shutdown/ hibernate when the battery reaches a specific level.

Yes, I don’t think my email was lost. I just forget what I was looking at and why, and it would be better if the computer would remember things for me than relying on my memory, especially after sleeping.

Yes, I wasn’t sure about the lost clusters, but haven’t noticed anything wrong.

Yes, I will look into the power saver programs, thanks.

I installed and configured xfce4-power-manager and it is working fine at a price of 10 mb of memory overhead, which isn’t too bad.
