Your download was interrupted. But all is not lost.
Your system may not meet the requirements for Firefox, but you can try one of these versions.Those with brains were sacked, idiots prevail.

::As good as many areas of our distribution is, there is PLENTY of room for further improvement when it comes to language translation, accurate localization, internationalization.
To those who are multi-lingual, translating pages of information, menu screens, etc. is VERY helpful.
We have American English video clips but lack them in other languages.Let’s do what we can; if there is something you can contribute, even a SMALL piece, please do what you can and we’ll add it as resources are available.
Thanks to everyone for the many hours of work that already go into the very good work that we have in place.

PEBKAC ?
Tested today using a pristine antiX19 full in virtualbox:
$ mkdir /tmp/f
visit https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/linux/
click “Download Now”
SaveAs /tmp/firefox-81.0.tar.bz2 (68.9MB)I extracted using “Archive Manager”, descended into the subdirectory containing the “firefox” and “firefox-bin” files… SelectAll, and copied the contents into
/tmp/f/$ cd /tmp/f
$ rm {crashreporter,crashreporter.ini,removed-files}
$ rm {updater,updater.ini,minidump-analyzer,pingsender}
$ rm -Rf icons
$ mv precomplete precomplete_RENAMED
$ mv plugin-container plugin-container_RENAMED
$ rm browser/features/doh-rollout*.xpi
$ rm browser/features/screenshots*.xpi
$ rm browser/features/webcompat*.xpi
$ chmod -x *.sothen edited “update-settings.ini”
ACCEPTRD_MAR_CHANNEL=shmooedited “platform.ini”

Nope, I don’t needa “Pocket” nor AutoFormFill nor Payments nor TopSites nor ActivityStream…
Nope, I don’t want the friggin browser (plus, choose: comcast, cloudflare) to usurp management of DNS services.While _NOT_ connected to the network, first-run launch
$ /tmp/f/firefox
I modded about 750 within prefs.js https://pastebin.com/Qw6hBYAv
and saved a copy of the modified prefs.js file for my future reference.
.
For a “permanant” installation, I probably would have created /etc/hosts entries to block each of the myriad (~50?) various mothership googleapi//mozilla.org hostnames the browser expects contact.result:
I determined that ff 61esr AND ff version 81 could be installed concurrently AND can be launched concurrently.
(hmm, during the test, I didn’t verfiy whether the new version was loading the locally-pathed .so files)September 30, 2020 at 4:57 pm #42381MemberModdIt
::@ Brian, it was not an antiX translation problem. Just Firefox, and only partial, especialy in settings.
We now have FF back in us english. I have also been unable to replicate the weird issue with newer downloads.Thanks skidoo for your detailed post, we still have a lot ot think about.
A winter idea is to try and automate
$ rm {crashreporter,crashreporter.ini,removed-files}
$ rm {updater,updater.ini,minidump-analyzer,pingsender}
$ rm -Rf icons
$ mv precomplete precomplete_RENAMED
$ mv plugin-container plugin-container_RENAMED
$ rm browser/features/doh-rollout*.xpi
$ rm browser/features/screenshots*.xpi
$ rm browser/features/webcompat*.xpiWill now add,
$ chmod -x *.soBefore first start, pull in https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js and put it in the correct directory, along with user.js updater and
prefs.js cleaner scripts. run as wished for.most of us are installing in a non standard place as well as some following your post in another thread, renaming
the browser binary and using the wrapper script you kindly provided. Since doing that browser unresponsive then on kill
spawning in to headless seems resolved.Having tried a user.js somehat similar to heavily customised the one you created which resulted in having kids locked out of
school applications, due I guess in part to lack of expertise we took a comprimise path. Lockout also occurs with old, just a
browser FF versions.Our hosts file contains as many google and mozilla adresses as I was able to find. It is a huge number and proven only
partially effective. Changed to open dns as Firefox comes sending all requests to cloudflare as well as google.Agree on
Nope, I don’t needa “Pocket” nor AutoFormFill nor Payments nor TopSites nor ActivityStream…
Nope, I don’t want the friggin browser (plus, choose: comcast, cloudflare) to usurp management of DNS services.Standard Search engine for us is MetaGer. kids seem only to know google.
The jumping madness bar sends users in to fits, real epeleptic ones. Some of the kids get seering headeachs from it.
Used user chrome csss fix to stop that. (other post).Badwolf is on installations, I think I am the only one to use it, as is palemoon, school portal accepts neither.
Not enough parents even understand there is something beyond what windoze brings no support for change.
not yet anyway. Privately the school admin is fine, he just gets run down by ignorance.It feels very much like fighting autumn leaves in the wind, you get some but a lot gets past.

Sorry that I added confusion by mentioning that. No, as seen at pastebin, that absolutely would not be a “recommended” drop-in set of user preferences. I would primarily use that for “comm -2 -3 newlist oldlist” ~~ as a reminder of which prefkeys merit scrutiny compared to those seen in earlier firefox versions.

::Thanks skidoo,
No confusion here, just a big user.js is not easy to debug and that can hurt followers.
Not everybody just starts again if the browser no longer works.
Best practise is: Always Backup use.js, modify, test, if ok backup again. Mozilla renames settings quite often causing confusion. Likely wanted.
For non experts, please edit user.js, not prefs.js, best basis I have found is the https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js, reason being syntax check.
At any error in the scripts firefox stops parsing and ignores rest of settings. You have no warning in prefs.js.
With the now arkenfox template there are syntax checks included. There is info on that on ghacks.com, as well as a lot of other useful information
regarding Firefox security and hacks. Too much to include here.Different users for different roles may also be useful when disk space is available. School and other in our case.
Permissions are set so only root can cross in to other role home area. -
