Good evening,
I need definitely the newer version of Flash Player : according to another participant ( caprea ) , I have to ask antiX to make the MX-version available in the antiX-repos. What do you think about that ?Thanks

I have great respect for caprea,
not much for adobe product flash, it has a history of being one of the biggest security and tracking risks ever to have been released on unsuspecting users. Has that changed, I think not.If you think you can handle that problem and really want it for some special reason why not just just install for yourself. None of the users I look after has either missed or installed it.

The latest version in antiX repo is exactly the same s the one in MX repo – ie 20200114.1-1 version.
If there is a newer version needed, you’ll have to wait.

I understand very well : It is not my choice too but I have to go and fetch a digitized archive for my family and that public service requires Flash Player, but it is not an important problem I’ll manage to find another computer !!

hope you understood my harsh reaction, with the information you gave later it would have been different.I am always worried about the young and reckless mob all clamouring to play flash games again. Trouble they get in to then costs me sleepless nights.
Linux is not the impenetrable bastion some people think, when you open the door with certain applications.

One can manually update on their own if they know how. I used to do that with the libflashplayer.so from adobes site and place it where AntiX sees it .
I would delete the old libflashplayer.so .Then restart browser and check version installed. This I did back when we did not have self updater like now. So I quit this practice.
In fact. I don’t run flash player anymore
But flash sites work for me anyways. But, I don’t game either.

Also. If your kids go to hinky sites and screw up the .mozilla folder. You can replace it and start over by just deleting the folder while browser is closed and restarting browser. Most malware won’t leave /home/username/.mozilla folder in Linux cuz it takes brains to get into root folders. It is a design perk.

How to Search for AntiX solutions to your problemsHallo and thanks roki, I knew how to replace Firefox but new users surely will not. A while back a pretty clever guy did some damage, since then I have tried to raise user awareness as well as locking down firefox best I can. How is in other thread.

Yes I know very well…..but it is not the choice of that administration …..I hope that one day the college where are going your kids will operate with Flash Player instead of HTML5 ! 😉
