ibus cant input chinese pinyin

install ibus success, but can’t input chinese pinyin. chinese language set correct.

Does the following provide a fix ?

sudo apt install ibus-pinyin ibus-gtk ibus-gtk3 im-config

explanation:
The ibus package declares the above as “recommends” or “suggests” (not as “depends”).
Per the the antiX “lean-n-mean” default apt policy, only items declared as “depends” are automatically installed.

not only have problem in firefox also cant work in any applications, also tried with fcitx, it is same issue, can display the input icon at lower right corner but cant input chinese. if you type only input the latin letter. seems the pinyin input is not take effect.

I don’t think that IP addresses of forum members should be disclosed in a public setting to protect privacy of forum members.

I use ibus for input of several different languages. im-config is not necessary and can be removed. ibus-gtk3 interferes with ibus-gtk making it not work with some applications like ROXterm of Firefox. Remove ibus-gtk3 and keep ibus-gtk.

I also put in my desktop session startup: ibus-daemon -drx

This gives you a tray icon indicator. Useful for me when I switch between input methods using some keyboard shortcut which you can set in the preference.

Beware of people who knows nothing; they are the ones that won't know that they know nothing.

I also meet the similar issue, and when I choose Chinese input, there is no ticker on it. Though there is “Sun-pinyin” icon on the panel. I still cannot input Chinese in any app, i.e. firefox, geany, rox-explorer.

I installed ibus, ibus-gtk, ibus-pinyin and run ibus-daemon -drx on start up and Chinese input works for leafpad and ROXTerm while the input does not work for firefox:

sudo apt install ibus ibus-gtk ibus-pinyin

Finally, I installed

ibus
ibus-gtk3
ibus-libpinyin
ibus-data

And the ibus input works everywhere, firefox, thunderbird, geany ROXTermetc.

Wow,

I hadn’t been thinking about writing in chinese or other languages that require ibus or fcitx or…

After reading this and the other recent posting, looked it up a bit and even saw a 2017 thread here on antiX.
