::I just posted in this “Software” forum about Conky suddenly not being &/or remaining visible after doing a massive update. Reading this thread, I see the news about IceWM v3.0. Checking in Synaptic, I found that my IceWM has indeed been updated to v3.0.0-1.0antix1.
Therefore, this is a BUG in the new IceWM.

::::Maybe they have a 3 button mouse?
The problem is that even if you have a 3 button mouse, like I do, then the feature does not work. It adds window B to window A, and there is a “Tabs” section in the windows menu, but there are no actual tabs visible. So, conceptually the feature exists, but it is not visible. Not sure how else to describe it really…
Maybe take this as an analogy: It would be as if Firefox would allow you to “open in new tab”, but then not show any tabs at the top. There would still be only a single tab, the contents of which were just replaced with the new content. Using Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab would then change the content of the current (single!) tab. But all in the absence of any (visual) tabs in the UI. This is what is happening in IceWm at the moment.

::The IceWM Devs are working on it…
I found out that all 3 button mouses are not the same. The generic one I have, the scroll wheel works, but not the 3rd button.
I do have one Dell laptop with 3 buttons which I was testing with last night, and on that one, I had the same problem as you. On that one I could drag and get it to flash, but it disappeared after that.

::::I ordered a real Logitech 3 button mouse today, LOL.
That will *probably* solve the quirks and issues you’ve been seeing. I’ve had a few genuine Logitech 3 button mice in the past; I think I got a USB model that had some kind of plug in USB driver (at the time), but the mouse itself was “wireless”; worked great.

Issues of late, good quality batterys lasting only a couple of months when new.
Total failures after just over 2 years. In engineering circles that is now called product lifecycle optimization.

::Not much I can do. The generic one I had was cheaper, but I don’t like clones that only look the same. I think its the result of globalization.

::I have uploaded debs to a reverted pre 3 series IceWM due to the zzzFM/SpaceFM conky issue.
This is for antiX-19 and antiX-21 users,
testing/sid users will not get the reverted debs since I want to work with the IceWM devs to get this issue fixed for their 3 series.- This reply was modified 7 months ago by anticapitalista. Reason: fixed typo
