      Autohide taskbar no longer works if the taskbar is doubleheight. Autohide does work if doubleheight is off. I use both so I can have all my frequently used programs on the toolbar available with one click.

      Since I use both normally for my setup, is there a way I can go back to 1.6.4 until the problem gets fixed?

      I tried apt-cache and it says the versions available are 1.6.5.1 and 1.4.3.0, so there isn’t a recent older version in the repos to choose from.

        You will have to manually download and install from the archives.
        You will need icewm and icewm-common

        archive

        Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

        antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

            I created an issue for it, and it was confirmed as a bug, and they fixed it very quickly. I’m hoping that means it will be in next released code. I am going to try to incorporate it added onto 1.6.5 code and test if I can figure out how, as probably I’d be the best person to test since it affects my setup. I know how to download the source and think I have the compiler things needed, but don’t remember how to compile it. The commit is here https://github.com/bbidulock/icewm/commit/dfa9b355b49494aa82ebffb2028b7944e3eb360e

              As an alternative to reinstalling different versions of icewm just to have frequently used apps,you can try this trick.
              Create a quick pick menu for the tool bar for all your frequently used applications.
              Use single taskbar but have a “personal” toolbar menu, as a vertical toolbar
              Here is my toolbar(saves a lot of space and unclutters the taskbar.)

              menu “Quick Pick” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/actions/open-menu.png {
              prog “App Select” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/gnome-searchtool.png /usr/local/bin/app-select
              prog “File Manager” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/file-manager.png spacefm
              prog “roxterm” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/24×24/apps/roxterm.png roxterm
              prog “leafpad” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/24×24/apps/leafpad.png leafpad
              prog “Unplug Removable Device” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/devices/drive-removable-media-usb.png unplugdrive.sh
              prog “Add/Remove Apps” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/synaptic.png gksu synaptic
              prog “Control Center” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/control-centre.png antixcc.sh
              prog “Calculator” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/calc.png galculator
              prog “Web Browser” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/web-browser.png desktop-defaults-run -b
              }

                  The IceWM maintainers fixed the taskbar problem I hit in 1.6.5, and I got it compiled and tested, so all is good from that respect.

                  Yes, I have too many things on my toolbar. The difficulty with the “put everything you use on it” mentality is to project ahead of time which menu options it will be, and adjusting it later. Some things I thought I would use a lot, but haven’t.

                  I like your “toolbar menu” idea though. Not that its any problem for me to edit files, I would still like a “smarter” system. At the moment I have another list of programs on the toolbar that you don’t see because they are commented out to save space. I’ll have to think more on it and maybe try your idea with some that aren’t used enough and the ones that are commented out to make them available just by hovering over a submenu toolbar icon if that would work.

                    So, I used your idea and took the apps that were hidden and ones I don’t use that often and hooked them in as mini-menus on the toolbar. They don’t popup unless you click, but its quicker than needing to go find them on the menus…

                    I’m running IceWM 1.6.4, but otherwise I’m running a tweaked 19.2 64 bit, which I’m able to run from flashdrive and install like any respin would. I’ve been trying to do something like this for years now, and its finally looking really good. I’ll try a 32 bit version next just to see if its as easy as it should be…

                    Thanks to anti and the devs and gurus/friends here that made it possible 🙂
