Is there any way to change the background? I may have missed something in the config files or are we stuck with it?

There are several different screen savers.

One pretty basic one is called xlock, I believe. It has quite a few different appearance options and selections.

One that I don’t think comes with antiX but it’s been around for a couple of decades at least is Jamie Zawinski’s xscreensaver. There are some GL graphics packages you can add for additional screensavers and features. I’ve used that one on and off since my UNIX development days a long time ago.

Most of the desktop projects also have their own unique variations though I don’t recommend them.

Alright, I actually installed xlockmore-gl & it gave me some screensavers, which is cool, but what I’m looking for is to change the screen when you type your password.

I’m not familiar with screen programs that change when you ENTER a password, but a few of them allow you to choose between a single image or a rotation of images.

                xlockmore vs. xscreensaver
                1. Who wants to lose oodles of disk space to lock a screen?

                2. xlockmore is a drop-in replacement for xlock.

                3. xlockmore runs with just one command.

                4. xlockmore works fine with xautolock.

                5. xlockmore requires no gui interface for build, just vanilla X.

                6. xlockmore has lots of system menus.

                7. xlockmore feature where you can press the middle mouse button to “change”.

                8. xlockmore/xlock allows root to unlock the display.

                9. xscreensaver does not have my favorite modes/hacks. “Life? Don’t talk to me about life.”, Marvin the Paranoid Android.

Beyond these I have no additional “wisdom”. I read manuals, look at the command with -h or –help, and then try things out to see what works best.

what I’m looking for is to change the screen when you type your password.

The background picture and theme for slimski (antiX’s login manager) could be changed there:
Control Centre -> Session -> Login Manager
