IceWM came with a totally new look in AntiX 21, in fonts, wallpaper, taskbar style, etc.
But, for some reason, I kind of liked the previous look in AntiX 19.4. Is there a way by chance to customize current default IceWM look so it resembles previous look?
Thanks.

::Fonts, make sure what you want is installed, use your theme
and font from 19
Put any wallpaper you like in /usr/share wallpaper set it
and done. You can make ICEWM look pretty much any way you like, Loads of info in
forum posts, You tube, Themes, there are Hundreds available. You can also copy over majority of your settings from the .icewm file in your home,
do icewm –restart, or logout and back in.Experiments on a live stick, NO persistence, if you break things reboot, transfer to your
installed system or remaster if you want to keep changes.November 14, 2021 at 12:09 am #70911Membermcpderez
::Just selecting Settings > Themes > B… > BlueDay-Medium seems to get most of the way there.

::Here is a screen shot showing where to change the theme to antiX Magic, and which screens to go to to change the settings for font, icons, scrollbars, mouse, etc. If you want it to look like 19.4, boot a USB with 19.4 and take screenshots of or write down the default settings below, and reboot with 21 and change to the 19.4 settings.
The instructions given to someone who wanted to change the settings:
1. From the toolbar or main menu bring up the File Manager so you can see how the icons and windows will look. Move that window to one corner.
2. From the main menu go to Settings > Themes > A > and click on antiX Magic Medium for a darker theme. (B and Blue Day Medium for you)
3. From the main menu, go to Control Centre > Desktop tab > and Click on Customize Look and Feel. Move that window to a different corner. Click on the Icon Theme tab. Try the different Icon themes till you see ones you like better. Click apply. Now click the Widgets tab and try different ones, and when you click Apply, the look of the other windows will change.
4. If there is a particular icon you still don’t like, you can go to the File Manager and right click on something where that icon is being used and click Set Icon and tell it to use a different icon instead of that one.—Click the 2nd attached pic to see the example, the first is the thumbnail—

::Thanks sirs!
Changing the theme to the one you mention under ‘B’ did practically all the thing. I think that was the default theme on AntiX 19.4.Just 2 questions:
–Are these themes proper of IceWM, or AntiX?
–From the screenshot I’d guess AntiX full includes more of these by default. Can they be installed someway as well if using an “edition” different than full? Thanks again.

::“On the shoulders of giants”
You could check each for license legalese and pay lawyers to provide opinions if you like, but I haven’t seen and overly restrictive verbage.
I didn’t create the Blue Day themes, but depending on the code inside each theme, they can look and act differently. Mine (antiX magic for example) were designed/tested to solve laptop issues. Any of them should work on antiX base or full.

::I’m really sorry, sir, I think I totally failed to make the right question…
What I meant is, where are the themes “originated” in? From the general IceWM project, or many are original from AntiX project?
No, nothing about properties, horrible legal stuff, nor anything of the like. Also, if using an AntiX version different from full, how can one get the other available themes?
Thanks, and sorry again.

::Its no problem, I just misinterpreted is all. Anyone can create a theme. There is a “how to” for icewm themes manual out there.
Search synaptic for icewm theme, maybe antiX has others that you don’t have installed.
Search the web for icewm theme, if you find and download any, you will need to install them somewhere along the path icewm would look for them at. Here, I think the best place to put custom themes with unique names would be ~/.icewm/themes/ You can copy ones there, change the name, and then tweak the theme itself.
There was a site called box-look.org, I think, that I have found some at.
Other distros that include icewm might also have themes that aren’t in other places.

::No need o say sorry, most Icewm themes are created separate from Icewm or
linux distros themselves.November 15, 2021 at 10:20 am #70982MemberModdIt
::BobC themes, antiX magic for example were designed/tested to solve laptop issues.
BobC Modesty, I really like and use antiX magic thinnest theme everywhere, not just
laptops and netbooks.Screen size is a major expense factor, less of that wasted in useless decoration the better.

antiX IceWM themes are packaged as
icewm-themes-antix
icewm-themes-extras-antixPhilosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
