      This is the code for icewm.desktop where I had to change it to run icewm-session instead of icewm or else it wouldn’t run my ~/.icewm/startup file when the boot is being controlled by lightdm. Only a few of the desktop entries in the folder show up at login on the lightdm session select pulldown, and to be honest, I haven’t figured out how the system decides which to display. Maybe its just not valid to try running the other “flavors” of antiX from a lightdm login. To be honest, once booted and startup runs it doesn’t really affect me because I’m not changing to JWM or Flux, etc., while running, but it explains why others have had trouble.

      [Desktop Entry]
      Name=IceWM-S
      Comment=lightweight X11 window manager
      Exec=icewm-session
      Terminal=false
      TryExec=icewm-session
      Type=Application

      [X-Window Manager]
      SessionManaged=true

      PS: The pic reminded me that I changed the name string in that desktop filr from IceWM to IceWM-S so I would know that was really the file that was running when I logged in

        Set up properly, ANY display manager ought to recognize the available software.

        It could be that the configuration doesn’t account for both window manager setups and desktop environments (I have not confirmed that one way or the other).

        I will state that the job of a good display manager is to select the desired software that the user wants.

        Once upon a time there were only a few choices but the developers of display managers knew that users want choices.

        The same is true here. Whether it is slim, xdm, kdm, gdm, Lightdm or something else, they all are intended to work with multiple components.

        Internet reading: “Display manager” or “Linux display manager”. A good search engine should provide plenty of information.

        I hope that is helpful. Reading and trying things out on a test system that I can rebuild is how I figure out how to do something that I would like to know or understand. Best wishes

          Thanks, this fixed my 19.2 install as well. Initially, opening menu/Desktop did not show an entry for icewm as is stated in the help file. Now menu/Desktops/OtherDesktops does have entries for ice.

          Vas you efer in Zinzinnati?
