      I wonder if you would consider replacing slimski with slim if that would solve your autologin problem.

      Thanks for the suggestion, but following a similar advice from anticapitalista, I tried installing antiX 19.5 and my PC had a similar problem (Even worse, in fact, when I enabled auto-login, slim completely blocked, because it kept asking for my credentials and did not allow me to access my desktop)… so I setled with always entering my username and password- since I usually just suspend it, instead of shutting it down, locking it.

      And if you ever lose your computer, you’ll be happy that at least its password protected.

      Since it’s a desktop, siting in my private office, if someone steals it, losing the data I have here would be the least of my fears. Also, just having to enter a password to access an unencrypted device (such as this) is little protection for the data I have here- simply boot from a live device and anyone can access my data here. I do not use encryption on my partition because I do not want to slow the system down (since all my machines are old).
