I tried all the rest and this de is the best. antiX-32bit-Basic.
I have two questions:
1. Before I left someone gave me terminal code to get synaptic: sudo apt install synaptic. It doesn’t work. I get:’synaptic has no installation candidate’. Would someone kindly give me the correct directions, please?

2. DeaDBeeF.
I downloaded it from the website and un-archived it. Didn’t work. Went back to the website and the fine print said that it may need some dependencies;
GTK2 >= 2.16, and/or GTK3 >= 3.10.0, GLIBC >= 2.7, xlib (libx11), libasound2.
How do I get/install them?

2a. I then noticed that the panel contains ‘Software Installer’. I went into ‘Audio’ and clicked on DeaDBeeF. It seemed to install because it showed the terminal adding stuff.

I then looked for DeaDBeeF everywhere in the menu without success.

Can someone please help?

sound like someone just forgot to “sudo apt update” before attempting to install the package

I apologize for being so sparing in my previous response.

Always, before to use the command apt install (or apt-get install), or apt upgrade , etc
we should do:
sudo apt update

Thank you VERY much. I’ve learnt a valuable lesson. Also both Synaptic and DeaDBeeF are both now working!
