      thx caprea,

I try on point and click camera on wallpapers.
on the connection thing here does an ifdown — ifup give insight on them?

      ifdown eth0
      ifdown wlan0 `
      or
      `ifup eth0 ‘
      ifup wlan0

Do you avoid kernel panic with the stable core version, i.e. antiX-19_386-core.iso ?

Hi Mikey – I just tried out the stable version of core AntiX19 32 bit, on a live CD, and it works fine And ceni connects right away with no problems. No kernel panic on the stable version.

Hi Caprea: On the gui Full AntiX 19 32 bit version, I reinstalled it on the hardrive. Tried the workaround, got wireless working with ceni and symlink, rebooted, and the symlink was broken after reboot. I have not updated with sudo apt dist-upgrade and will try that next.

Thanks for the idea, Semicynic. I’ll try that on a live DVD session, since I have removed connman from my install.

Thanks for all your help, everyone.

Hi Linuxdaddy, do you want me to run those commands? I’m a newbie so need a bit more input please. Those commands seem to be meant to bring a network connection up or down. Ifquery lists my network and the password.

Also, I have been wondering why it lists my wireless as eth1 rather than wlan0 ?

          Thanks again

Hi Caprea, I did a sudo apt dist-upgrade and the rebooted, and the symlink is definitely broken upon reboot.
            Thanks

GUI doesn’t work but CLI does. Good luck.

Hi Semicynic. Thanks for the step by step. I got a different response, which might be helpful.
I went through your steps, got to the end and then entered my passphrase, and this is the reply:
              Agent ReportError <mywifi>
              connect-failed
              Agent request cancelled by ConnMan
              Error /net/connman/service/<mywifi>: Operation Aborted

where <mywifi> is the long name for my network starting with “wifi_000e252…”

              Hope this helps
Thanks again for the suggestion and the steps. I really appreciate it.

                @gf

Sometimes I had to bring the card down and back up to get it to turn the wifi card on
before ceni would scan. connman has a slider to turn the card on and off. The commands
are ran with “sudo” infront. It was a suggestion if the wifi card wasn’t turned on during bootup.
                As yours would be eth1.

                sudo ifdown eth1

                sudo ifup eth1

will turn the card off then back on resetting it.

Did you remove connman and its gui front end cmst?

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

                    That’s a good question, anticapitalista
I only removed connman. I didn’t know about the front end cmst.
                    Should I remove that too?
                    Thanks

yes – and to check – you are using only default buster repos?
If you are using testing or sid, then remove the resolvconf package

                        Hi again,
I am using the default (antiX-19_386-full Marielle Franco 16 October 2019), not testing or sid.

I tried to remove the cmst package but it says I do not have it installed:

                        $ sudo apt remove cmst
                        [sudo] password for g:

                        Building dependency tree
                        Reading state information… Done
Package ‘cmst’ is not installed, so not removed

                          Hello,
I thought I should try 19.1 since it includes ceni. I tried out 19.1 386 Full 32 bit (antiX-19.1_386-full.iso) to see if I get the same results.
Unfortunately, I had the same errors for connman and ceni.
In the attached file I have pasted as much of the command line output as seemed relavent.
Thanks for all your help on this.
And thanks for a great distro. I really like using AntiX. I have just started exploring the CLI apps and I enjoy how fast and clean the command line is.
                          Still learning…
                          🙂

                            Hello,
I have tried several different things but still no luck getting the symlink to continue to be a symlink over re-boots.
Is it possible to have that resolve.conf file in both places?
The resolv.conf file seems to be a small text file that the network manager applcation (connman or ceni) use to store IP address of the DNS resolve server. Can there be two copies of the file (one for connman, where it expects the file to be) and one for ceni?
                            Still learning…
                            Happy New Year, everyone!
                            🙂

Great idea G ! Could you try
                              sudo apt-get purge connman
Afterwards create the broken symlink again and reboot.

I was able to reproduce your broken symlink if I deleted connman but not the configuration files. So a purge should do the trick.

Even if antiX19.1 comes with ceni preinstalled, creating the symlink is still nessecarry. It’s just easier now for people who are not able to download ceni.

                                  Hi Caprea,
I have tried several times with a fresh install of Antix 19.1 386 Full installed on my harddrive (I had to reinstall it as I really messed up the install).
                                  I purged Connman and cmst
I set up the symlink and started ceni
When I reboot the symlink still gets broken.
I am documenting my steps and will post that shortly.

                                  Thanks again for your help
