RogueAntiX
Hi guys,
I have tried a few different distros (especially over the last 12 months) and I have always drifted back to Mint, especially if I am introducing Linux to new customers. If find that really easy to use without having to know how to use the terminal. Saying that, I came across an old Lenovo ThinkPad R60 and an old Acer TravelMate. The Acer has an Intel Centrino and no PAE, this meant that Mint won’t install on it so I had to look for a lighter alternative and came across antiX.I can’t believe that I haven’t heard of this distro before. I am really impressed. Both notebooks are currently only holding 1gb of memory and this OS works really, really well with it! On the Lenovo, I am able to install Mint, 64bit, but I chose to install antiX x64. I did notice that the 32bit OS works more seamlessly with the low memory t currently has.
The easy changes of desktop environments at login is a great feature too! I got stuck with Kodi desktop everytime I logged in before I realised hitting the F1 key at login will change it. The Conky application is a neat feature too, helped me to monitor the performance of these notebooks, which made me stick with the 32bit, due to lower memory usage.
All in all, I think I have found a clean, light and highly customizable Linux OS that I am finally happy with! Great job on this distro so far guys, I’d recommend this to anyone thinking of discovering a Linux distro, or even people already using Linux and don’t know about you!

::Installing a 64-bit makes sense only if you have more then 4 GB of memory, otherwise you can’t fully use it.
32-bit distributions use approx. 1/2 of the RAM in comparison to 64-bit.
It may vary though, depending on your HW.October 31, 2018 at 3:59 pm #12924Forum Admin

From my experience AntiX works way better on such notebooks than Mint due to much higher memory requirements.
One of my many laptops is T60 (equivalent to R60). Worksgreat with such not extremely old laptops.
However the oldest laptop I tried is Thinkpad T23 – PIII with 760M memory. No problem with AntiX, however the problem arises with browsers (Chrome or FF) that require SSE hardware support which old laptops do not have.Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):
