As you can see in the image, I have a .desktop file with the desired icon. However, the app-select does not display the icon correctly. The original file I copied and modified was the atom.desktop file, and its icon doesn’t change either. Is there a cache or something else that needs to be cleared for the icon to display correctly?

I have the same issue for some other Desktop Entries .
Log-out , restart …. None of em worked

Tip: most Linux commands do show help when you run the command with the “-h” or “- -help” flags… so try this in the terminal:
        app-select -h
You’ll learn that you can use: app-select --refresh-cache

Also “man name_of_command” usually shows the manual of a terminal command… Most apps show some help with this 3 options.
This tips will probably help you in future, with other commands…

        P.
