Believe me,the problem in your last image is not related to a gpg error. It’s definetily a problem with the sources in the various.list.

Please look again at the file
eg. on the image in your post 94248 the words main nonfree are not in the same line as the deb line like this:

      deb http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo/ bullseye
      main nonfree

Edit: If your sources list is OK, you can try to get the key installed with

      sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys F942E0D4E1C726CD

I sent another picture, but it did not get there so I am attaching it now. If you view the attachments to #94119 and #94248, you can see the non-free in there also.

Rey, it’s again not in the same line on this image.

If I write it the way like on that image on my various.list I get exactly the same error as you ,here on my system.
If I wouldn’t knew you so well, then I would think you are kidding me,lol.

          Edit:
          94119 is good
94248 the words main nonfree are not in the same line
94283 the words main nonfree are not in the same line and theres the word sudo in the first line before #liqourix

            Thanks! I will try

            sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys F942E0D4E1C726CD

I wonder if LXDE is the problem – it shouldn’t be, as I am running it with slimski, but I will try it with an installation with only IceWM if all else fails.

                The key installation went well.

I have no idea why the various.list doesn’t get accepted.I also already thought about that you are using a dektop,
What happens if you put the lines in the antiX.list file ?

                  Thank you caprea-

It gave the same response to the antix.list.

The same repo install procedure attempt on an updated boot install media “full x64”, and also on an installed partition with only IceWM, ended with the same results.

checkaptgpg is a file that needed to be installed from Synaptic – that is why “command not found” kept coming up:

                  rj@antix21rj:~

It appears to be still missing the key authentication/verification. I believe that the gpg package I installed was already there. The key number you gave me matches the one in the terminal output it is looking for.
                  —————-
                  Tried your suggestion:

                  sudo apt-key adv –keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 –recv-keys F942E0D4E1C726CD

                  And another found online:

                  sudo apt-key adv –keyserver hkp://pool.sks-keyservers.net:80 –recv-keys F942E0D4E1C726CD
                  —————-

If the key is properly signed, enabled or whatever it needs, it might work.
                  ———–

                  1. updated antiX 21 – boot media – double checked to make sure all updates were now current

                  2. edited various.list

                  3. installed gdebi

                  4. installed gpg key package successfully (although I think it was already there)

                  5. sudo apt update – same failure

Yes, I said that in my post 94224.

This is not a gpg error:

                    rj@antix21rj:~
                    $ sudo apt update
E: Type 'deb http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo/ bullseye' is not known on line 4 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/various.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.
                    rj@antix21rj:~

It points to an error in the sources list.

                    ——————————————————————————–

However, the error in your screenshot “IceWM-and-boot-media-results.png” is definitely a gpg error. On that system please do the command

                    sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys F942E0D4E1C726CD

                    and try again to update.

Thanks caprea – this attachment is the result. Error…

Sorry – I missed the checkaptgpg instruction you gave to me in that post – I was going to fast and not careful enough.

If the MXrepo fails to be enabled, I am going to install an IceWM only snapshot from before previous thread [https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/keylock-indicator/] November 2, where I installed indicator-keylock and Redshift, PAsystray, and Clipit was removed, to see if it left any dependencies that are conflicting with MX package build from the .deb files, currently.

I cannot imagine what this is like for you to be trying to sort out my clumsy posts.

                      So thank you again.

                        hello rej and caprea
caprea is getting you to the gpg and repo.
also caprea has pointed out that the order of installation is a nuance; it took some experimenting. caprea used apt did well.
It is nice that you are willing to get back to the starting point to see what happened and to warn us.
installation here nothing removed. gdebi one at a time success. gdebi never a problem here, presented sometimes an alternate available version number that needed to input a No.
At the time of the past topic the packages had just been uploaded to the repository.(so after thirty days has there been update to this?) For ease of trial, i avoided the repositories multiple times by using these:

Thank you! Success! Fast, easy install with no issues, on new partition from a previous snapshot. The first two packages came from your zip file and the second two from the earlier attempt. The files were installed in the order below. The second file [**] was missing from the previous fails. Ran gdebi from terminal – no problems.

                          libayatana-appindicator3-1_0.5.5-2+mx21+1_amd64.deb
                          ** gir1.2-ayatanaappindicator3-0.1_0.5.5-2+mx21+1_amd64.deb

                          libappindicator3-1_0.4.92-8_mx21+1_amd64.deb
                          indicator-keylock_3.1.1-0_mx21+1_amd64.deb

So thanks for the zip file and reminder about the order!

                            Those are Stevo’ files.
nuance is so close to nuisance.
keep going with the gpg fix for future.

                              Hello Rej, hello ile
                              very good.
I will mark this solved, still wondering why it is not possible for you, Rej,to add the MX-repos to your system.
(Normally it’s always easier to install something from MX by adding the repos, because you don’t need to care about the order of installation or search for the necessary packages in that way, apt does it for you.)

Right-clicking on a package opens gdebi and then disappears after hitting “install” – which is why I run it in a terminal ‘sudo -H gdebi-gtk’ and open a file from there. It might have some sort of permissions oriented bug in it – not specific to antiX.

Please thank Stevo for the files.

I should also note that I think “libappindicator” was the wrong version on the first installation fail, so that was another reason, aside from missing “gir1.2-ayatanaappindicator” altogether.

I will start fresh on a new partition with the MXrepo installation as with the build, and see if anything in there had been interfering with the key authentication or where it derailed.

Thanks so much – now I can see if I am typing with caps on while keeping notes and entering passwords on the repo progress!

Thank you both for your help – I really appreciate it!!

Right-clicking on a package opens gdebi

It’s not advisable to use gdebi to install .deb files. You should open a Terminal and type this command (leave a space after the last word):

                                  sudo apt install

Using the file manager, drag and drop the .deb package to the terminal and press enter. Enter your password if asked to.
In the antiX 22 suggestions thread, you’ll find my “debinstaller” script, that partly replaces gdebi as a GUI .deb package installer.

                                  P.
