some different levels for us.
Conditions Normal synaptic would be my preference. like caprea.
Hi caprea-
Success! Different partition – simple, easy, fast – no issues. It is now authenticated/enabled, however, the updater wanted 90 updates – I hope it was right to ignore them. I installed indicator-keylock from Synaptic and then removed the MXrepo in the various.list, ran apt update and the application works!
Thank you for your help and amazing persistance!!
I tried to post the terminal results of checkaptgpg and apt update, but it was tagged as “spam” because of the repository address links, I guess…

To compile packages (especially the order) and learn how to find dependencies, is a valuable skill. I agree – getting applications through Synaptic is also always the prime choice. Everything is done on a test machine first.
I saw one of rokytnji’s posts on linuxquestions installing a kernel that way.
PPC’s installer collection is extremely informative.
Thanks again for your help and all the great tips!
PPC-
I appreciate the tip – I will try that immediately on my test machine.
That is quite a compilation! Clear information, instruction and pros and cons for installing all kinds of files/packages. I was unaware that 22 was released. Thanks for directing me to the thread.

Yes, this is very important, never upgrade if a foreign source is activated, just update the sources and install your package.
You absolutely got this right.
Glad to hear that it worked out after all.
