I installed Helen Keller 17.4.1 64-bit to an Acer Aspire SSD laptop, all went well but it will not boot, looking for the necessary boot file. I booted it from the install USB and tried to repair the boot but it requires a password that I do not have. The old system root password for luddite [root] no longer works nor does the password given at install time. I looked down BitJam but found nothing appropriate. Thanks in anticipation.
Running ‘live’ from USB pendrive, try passwords ‘demo’ or ‘root’.
Linux (& BSD) since 1999
Problem solved – not a problem just lack of knowledge. grub must install to the ESP partition not the MBR.
