Please , with a sd card inserted in the reader post the output from terminal of
        inxi -zv7
        and
        lspci

Normally it’s not necessary to download a driver from any site.
Could you describe more clearly what is the problem with the sd card reader?
I see you have problems to upload the tar.gz
You could also tell us from which site you downloaded what.

          Hi thanks for helping
          The lspci return gives
03:00:0 unassigned class (ff00) :Realtek semiconductor co.,Ltd RTL810xe PCI express card reader (rev 01)

It’s odd it sees the reader but it’s not assigned
Not sure what to do next
          Thank you

Edited by WOLF100 but caught by the Anti-Spam:

-“Hi sorrY forget to say the driver was downloaded from Acer as the Linux driver for Aspier one d237
It says to use the make file exe which then does create a file in Vim but I don’t know how to use the created file
The card reader works under windows without error but is not recognised in Linux but the system seems to know it’s there so I guess it’s a driver issue unless I need commands to assign it
            Thanks again”-

EDIT:The unassigned class is totally normal for a card reader, afaik, same here.
If this is on antiX21, on an installed system or also on a live usb, you could try the alternate kernel.
Installed it is under the advanced options on the boot menu.
