Hi
I have used arch for over a year. I have installed git. I git clone a package called mailspring. cd to the directory. makepkg -si did not work. So how do I install mailspring? If I cant I will resort to install arch.
What is mailspring?
no AUR pkg found
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sort=&q=mailspring
a search of pkgs.org found:
https://pclinuxos.pkgs.org/rolling/pclinuxos-x86_64/mailspring-1.7.8-1pclos2020.x86_64.rpm.html
“Mailspring is a new version of Nylas Mail maintained by one of the original authors”
aha, https://repology.org/project/mailspring-libre/versions

??? this? https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mailspring-libre
and
you git cloned this? https://github.com/notpushkin/Mailspring-Libre
Possibly, you can “sudo apt install alien” and retrieve the PCLinuxOS rpm, convert it to a debfile and install… but (it’s an “electron” application, written in typescript) I’m not confident the debian repositories contain a suitably recent version of nodejs to meet the build requirements for the application.
Or you could go the easy path and download the .deb file:
https://updates.getmailspring.com/download?platform=linuxDeb
Also,
I have used arch for over a year.
Then you should know, as a proficient arch user, what dependencies you need to compile and MAKE INSTALL the program and what dependencies are needed for mailspring. If you at least told us what was the error message or what are the dependencies, a link to the git source and the steps you performed, we could help. Maybe in arch forums they have the ability to read minds, but antiX linux users don’t have that OP skill.
