Hi antiX community,
I just checked if there is a step-by-step plan to install (ubuntu) snap files within antiX linux.
But I couldn’t find anything.
I would like to install the easy-installer program from e-foundation:
https://doc.e.foundation/easy-installer-linux
Can someone help with this, thanks in advance.-I find capitalism repugnant. It is filthy, it is gross, it is alienating... because it causes war, hypocrisy and competition-

::snaps need systemd so they can’t be installed on antiX.
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

::Try a flatpak or an appimage… they are much more benign. snaps come with some serious security issues (check the LinuxMint discussions on why they do NOT make them easy to access.)

::Looking at e foundation it seems to be that you want to flash a phone with a new OS.
I think you can do that from a live USB which supports snap packages.
I hope you are successful having soft bricked a couple of phones in the past i am now
fairly cautious..Please do as manyroads suggests and read the very informative discussions on negatives with snap.

::Hi Moddit,
Thanks for your message.
I did indeed research and tried to flash it via a live usb. Unfortunately this did not work and my phone (Gigaset gs290) gave problems.
After that I fully installed ubuntu 21.04 and tried again, luckily this worked.
Now I have 1 task left, reinstall antiX tonight 🙂- This reply was modified 1 year, 7 months ago by Eismckwadraat19.

::hallo eism*
Thanks for the feedback, as an xiaomi phone of mine is on the device list I may have a go at flashing it some rainy day. Bothersome is the wait time and having to allow xiaomi full access to phone. They spy more than google, but the phone hardware is good.I can plug in a spare hard disk to save any reinstall :-).

::I advise you to read this article from professor Schmidt about the data harvesting from big company´s:
https://digitalcontentnext.org/blog/2018/08/21/google-data-collection-research/I also like the specs/price from Xiaomi phones but you can not use the easy installer program from e-foundation.
Flashing will therefore be very difficult.A hard disk to save the reinstall is a great idea, i was forgotten that 🙂

::Since my first smartphone I have removed and controlled google as much as possible,
thanks to the greatest president on earth i now have a google free honor phone, very
good hardware. Removed quite a lot of rubbish using adb. Next stage is using a virtual VPN
running NetGuard in the pro version, that allows quite a lot of control over traffic and
permits usage of a hosts file to block ads and some urls. Not perfect but in any case we are
already in a totaly surveillance orientated situation.Next big surveillance item is smart toilets, even your poop and urine is directly checked for disease
alcohol or drug abuse. that will couple to car and central health data set. If the toilet finds substances
your car will not start, just automaticaly call the police to inform you wanted to drive under influence.
Personal ID is from an ass recognition scan. And no I am not kidding,
the technology is market ready..Flashing any phone is at best a risk, I still have a Lenovo Lemon (K3 Note) a revolution at the time,
Big good screen still usable too. Removable battery, non removal batteries are to prevent surveillance
breakage by power removal.
Not sure how many times I flashed a new rom on that lenovo, 5 or more for sure, it came from china with all
sorts of interesting extras. Virus, trojan, porn screen saver application, chinese sellers think those
are funny. -
