Hi missTell,
Sorry for the long delay and many thanks for your help and detailed replies. I am sorry if you feel I was trying to insult you. Certainly no offense was intended and I am sorry if I seemed impatient. To achieve my programme I decided to complete the urgent work required at the time by recourse to another computer. Later I was able to install the full version of Antix using an usb cd/dvd drive.
I have been delighted by my full version of Antix. Installation went without a hitch on my rather aged T42 and installing all the network printers also went like a dream so I would like to express my appreciation to all concerned.
It is clear that there are so many options available it will take me a while to find my way around but the defaults I have all seem clear and do what is needed. Thanks again,
Bugie
