      I had to make the value in this file 0, in order to stop the intermittent tick-tick/buzz, tick-tick/buzz from the sound card when nothing was playing:

      /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/power_save
      1
      and yet the ‘make it permanent’ didn’t work for me:

      /etc/modprobe.d
      $ sudo cat audio_disable_powersave.conf
      options snd_hda_intel power_save=0
      #options snd_usb_audio power_save=0

      This is from site: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/how-to-disable-power-savings-in-linux.40511/
      and is counter to what seemed to be the solution for other linux distros solutions. e.g. I have been experimenting with voidlinux as well and it needed:
      $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel.conf
      options snd-hda-intel power-save=0
      Will try again, but changing the power-save to 1. Worst case, maybe something at startup will be needed to write to the file with the new value, but that’s hacky.
