I was wondering, wouldn’t it be good idea to have an official IRC channel?

Technically there’s one (unofficial?) at Libera.chat (previously at Freenode), but there’s just a couple of users, and virtually no activity at all.

      Thanks.

Look for #antix or #antixx on freenode.

This has been tried before and was abandoned due to lack of interest. You younger guys are welcome to pick up the baton though.

roky, due to recent drama, “freenode” is un-cool and probably has been placed on many folks’ “to-be-boycotted” list.

          IRC:
          — too often, channels seem barren, due to timezones // demographics of prospective global participants
          — the use of clever (lazy) shorthand slang / lingo, along fractured English, among the participants fries my brain
          — WAY too often I’ve observed well-intentioned (but naive) folks dishing out misinformation and misguided advice

I’ve observed that, within many channels, many of IRC participants are “sleazy, lazy leeches”.
Sleazy: jojo accepts a paid job on fiver dot com, or projectforge dot com …then trawls IRC (and other venues) prying free “howto” details from unsuspecting do-gooders, toward being able to successfully fulfill his paid contract.
