::Iso-snapshot-antix does work fine with Refracta 10, which is based on Devuan 3. It seems to need SysV and does not work on Debian with systemd.
So I wonder: Would iso-snapshpt-antix work on antiX with runit as init software?I am not running runit anymore to test this but more general question would be whether antiX leaders would prefer to hold ISO-Snapshot/Live-USB-Maker/Remaster specific to (proprietary to) antiX or make the code more generic to Debian, so others would leverage tremendous power of these utilities and pure genius behind them. I do call it genius because in spite of skidoo’s explanation, in all modesty explaining that others developed comparable variations, I do also see dramatic advantage the way these tools are working, although be it so far for the exclusive advantage of antiX/MX.
Thanks again and best Regards…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

::olsztyn, we posted at the same time.
I’ve read your latest.
Subsequent to all that I’ve laid out above, it’s time for me to wave and say “Whoa! Stop!”Debian chose to kick us non-systemd users to the curb.
There’s no valid reason for “antiX devs” to attempt to accommodate the wants/needs/whims of users of other distros. Snapshot-alike code is publicly available, and is in use by various distros (as shown in my earlier post).

::I wasn’t going to intervene, as a wealth of knowledge was being posted and I didn’t have a free second to come in and explain. But, after finding the links, here is some extra info.
Many (if not most) of the antiX and MX software is not only free software but it also works on other Debian based systems. Even the antiX persistence tools were used by other distros in the past (and probably in the present).
More specifically for Debian, a user named “Head_on_a_Stick” that often posts in the MX forum has proven that MX tools work on pure Debian.
See this post in the semi official Debian forum:
Adding MX Linux tools to Debian
If you keep reading down, you can see that they even got Iso snapshot to make a snapshot of the modified Debian and it even installed using the MX installer.
All this on a systemd based Debian system.Explore, experiment and enjoy. There were no bad intentions in the previous posts, so let us undo the misunderstandings.
Edit: some text was removed, as the misunderstanding was resolved.

::Thanks Xecure. I have been doing other things for most of the week, I appreciate your explanation and I agree.
I do, however want to remind everyone to be patient with new users and I also ask everyone to use polite language.
Before responding with anger, please ask questions and allow time for people to correct their own words. Moderators can intervene, but I prefer to manage primarily by putting conversation in the correct topic and forum section.

::entirely my fault.
It was an accurate quote. I regretted typing that and returned to edit my post.to avoid further confusion, maybe a moderator should just delete these offtopic posts
I appreciate skidoo… Thanks again for the background you provided in your posts. IMHO there is no need to delete anything, but up to you.
If you are by chance the main contributor/developer (which I guess from your knowledge of details and background) behind ISO-Snapshot/Live-USB-Maker/Remaster then please accept my my recognition they are extremely well thought through.

::Ok, apology from my side, sometimes we all get messed up, especialy when information is not
complete.
Hope the thread on this extremely interesting theme looks better and more factual now.November 22, 2020 at 10:18 pm #45573Anonymous
::skidoo is just a docent

behind ISO-Snapshot/Live-USB-Maker/Remaster
Across years, BitJam developed much of the code employed in the current crop of tools. During the past year or two, BitJam has shoutout thanked Fehlix for contribs. Adrian is the developer//maintainer of the Qt gui versions of the various programs.

Possibly other developers//maintianers are also involved, but I’m unaware of their specific rolesNovember 23, 2020 at 12:12 am #45574Memberolsztyn

From my university times ‘Docent’ is a pretty high title in academic society, Assistent Professor’, which is between Ph.D. and Professor.
Across years, BitJam developed much of the code employed in the current crop of tools.
Thanks for the info. Indeed, I remember BitJam working on enhancement to Live-USB-Maker about a year ago, to resolve an issue with resulting Live copy not booting when an upgrade to kernel was done in the interim, due to a discrepancy was between versions of vmlinuz and initrdr in Live boot and one in image. Thanks BitJam…
