Today, when I updated and full-upgraded my Sid system, there was an message about an error processing /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-nj6f4O/06-iso-snapshot-23.02.13-amd64.deb.
Since this happened when I was booting the 6.1.10 kernel, I rebooted into the 5.10.142 kernel and again ran the update and full-upgrade. Now there was a message that
The following packages have unmet dependencies: iso-template-antix : Depends: iso-snapshot but it is not installed or iso-snapshot-cli but it is not installedSince IIRC I have used iso-snapshot on this machine and then live-usb-maker to produce an iso, I was puzzled.
It turns out that there are two pairs of iso-snapshot packages:
(1) iso-snapshot and iso-snapshot-cli
(2) iso-snapshot-antix and iso-snapshot-cli-antixAll four of these packages are maintained by anitcapitalista, in addition to iso-template-antix.
I currently have only iso-snapshot-cli-antix (0.4.06) installed. Do I need to install any of the other packages in order to continue making iso-snapshots or what?
Appreciate a referral to a thread discussing this or an explanation.
Thanks in advance.

::You probably have to wait for your repos to sync.
The very latest iso-template-antix depends on iso-snapshot or iso-snapshot-cli.
I changed the name of the packages so as to keep in sync with the MX iso packages (it has a lot more features than our version).iso-snapshot replaces iso-snapshot-antix
iso-snapshot-cli replaces iso-snapshot-cli-antix
So install the newer version of one and you should be good to go.Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

::Hi anticapitalista,
Thanks for clarifying that.
My currently installed iso-snapshot-cli-antix (version 0.4.06 amd64) works without iso-template-antix installed.
Since I like to run the latest packages on this system, I will upgrade. Since I have a limited graphic desktop (minimalistic Openbox), I figured that I need to use the -cli version.
When I did a simulated install of the iso-snapshot-cli, there is a conflict because the package manager is deferring to the iso-snapshot-cli-antix version already installed. There is no problem when I simulate an install of the iso-snapshot package (I don’t have iso-snapshot-antix installed).
So, I try to remove the existing iso-snapshot-cli-antix and again apt complains that I have unmet dependencies and suggests that I use apt –fix–broken-install, which tells me I have to install iso-snapshot!
Since you say that either the GUI or the CLI version could be installed, it seems there is a glitch when someone already has the iso-snapshot-cli-antix version installed (Perhaps the numbering is confusing apt 0.4.06 vs 23.02.13?)
So, I just attempted to install iso-snapshot.
Got an error message that:
dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/iso-snapshot_23.02.13_amd64.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/etc/iso-snapshot-exclude-list', which is also in package iso-snapshot-cli-antix-0.4.06Finally, I tried sudo apt –fix-broken install. That produced the same error messages.
I note that iso-template-antix is version 23.02.14, while the two iso-snapshot packages are both version 23.02.13.
So, still a bit confused – will this likely fix itself in the next few days?

::iso-template-antix (23.02.14) is he newest that should automatically replace the old iso-snapshot-cli-antix package.
If you don’t have iso-template-antix installed, you won’t be able to make bootable snapshotsPhilosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

::Hi anticapitalista,
I wasn’t clear enough.
I wasn’t able remove iso-snapshot-cli-antix, which is blocking install of either iso-snapshot or iso-snapshot-cli. Iso-template-antix was listed as being installed -but broken!
The existing exclude file belonging to iso-snapshot-cli-antix blocked everything.
I have now SUCCEEDED by SIMULTANEOUSLY PURGING the iso-snapshot-cli-antix and the iso-template-antix packages.
When I tried purging them individually, the same unmet dependencies error popped up and blocked the action.
I just tried launching iso-snapshot from the terminal and it looks glorious.
I will report back the next time I try to do an iso-snapshot.
I think my report is worthwhile in case anyone else has a problem installing the new version because of the old version’s exclude file.
Thanks for replying to my post.
