Hi everyone. After not finding the answer to my question — about getting my wifi to work, and soundcard, and microphone (haha) anywhere readable online, I decided to stick with Mint for now BUT I am still interested in antiX (and MX) so I thought I would hang out in here when I had the time. Maybe I can learn a thing or two before I buy an old laptop and give it another go.
      Thanks for letting me join.

@timbullins: I am sorry that things did not work out for you (at least initially) here. I’ve had great success over the years with MEPIS, MX, and antiX, using commodity hardware. I used 32-bit Dell D600 series laptops in the past, along with IBM T series (T42, T60, T61) with great success, also a Lenovo 3000 series and a Gateway 2000. More recently I have a Dell Inspiron 5558, which is also gracefully aging, and it’s a 64-bit model. All of these work well with Debian, MEPIS, MX, and antiX. Sorry that your experience has not been better, and I wish you well in your future use of freely available software.

          Hello timbullins, welcome.

I have had some difficulties with antiX on a few machines. But I always got it sorted out. Sometimes it has taken me awhile and at least once I had to compile a driver for a sound card. And believe me, I am not comfortable with that level of geek. But antiX has adapted to everything. If you are willing you will eventually get antiX to work for you.
