Hello from Germany,
I recently got an old Thinkpad t60 and tried several OS-systems, which didnt really work out. So I tried antix and what should I say?! -It works like a dream!I am astonished by the Power you get out of this nearly 18year old machine with antix. Besides I own several Apple-products, I found myself using that old Laptop with Antix very often recently. With that experience in mind, I am now considering to use my older Apple-hardware much longer with antix as a main-OS! -Alltough i ve been a very interested in IT-things, i never thought of switching to linux as dailydriver, but you guys did it! Thank you very much!
In general: I like that thougt of security and sustainibility of antix. I looked up several problems on that nice Forum of yours. Most issues i ve been able to solve. Keep up that good work!

Thinkpad T60 is a very nice laptop. I had one on antiX until recently screen backlight went kaput… The only downside – it is 32 bit processor. After T60 retired another one from those times – Thinkpad Z61P assumed T60’s role as my wife’s music box…

Yeah, back in “the day” the T series of Thinkpad devices were among the most well-built laptops of their time, with very good keypads, solid components, a bit heavy, especially by today’s standards, but very usable for either business or personal use PLUS they almost always worked with Linux systems.
Many times I was able to bring Thinkpad systems home; most of the models I used were company owned, so in most cases I could not install Linux, but that didn’t prevent me from booting them up live and running them at home without damaging whatever corporate software was on the systems. They always worked and never broke. I think over the years I used T41, T42, T60, T61, and I have a later 64-bit X201 model in my collection now.

::Hello Chrizzy.
Welcome to antiX Linux and the forum.
I don’t know how to write in English and I send my texts translated by the internet translator. I hope you can understand everything, if your native language is not English, please translate my original Brazilian Portuguese text directly into your language with the help of internet translators.
Regardless of your level of knowledge about GNU/Linux, I recommend you read these excellent tutorials created by @PPC:
What is antiX and how to try it out or install it.
Short essential how-to list for the complete Linux newbie.
How-to install applications – 2020 version.
How to: correctly use antiX forum. When I first started using antiX, I read the tutorials that PPC created, these readings saved me a lot of time and I think it saves time for any new antiX user. Your time will not be wasted with these readings, everything will seem to be much easier than you could imagine. You won’t waste your time searching the internet or even creating new topics, on the contrary, you will gain a lot of time with these readings.
I recommend you try out desktops that have “zzz” in their name. I usually use zzz-IceWM or zzz-JWM or zzz-Fluxbox (each of these desktops has its own characteristics and consumes more or less resources), zzzFM will be the default file manager for your desktop, it it is very similar to the other file managers of other GNU/Linux distributions and Windows XP. To access other antiX workspaces, click on Menu, Desktop, Other Desktops and click on the workspace name, instantly the workspace will be loaded.
Whenever you need to ask for help or technical support in this forum, please explain in detail what is happening, don’t mince words, be thorough when writing, tell your computer characteristics such as make and model. If possible, post the result of the command $ inxi -Fxz from the terminal, copy and paste here in the message of the topic that you are going to create in this forum.
When you start a topic or participate with a post, remember to check the option “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”, by checking this option, you will receive a message in your email box whenever there are replies from topic in question.
I also revive several old computers with antiX here in Brazil since May 2020.

What is antiX and how to try it out or install it.
Short essential how-to list for the complete Linux newbie.
How-to install applications – 2020 version.
How to: correctly use antiX forum.

Its a nice laptop indeed. I like old stuff in general. Just thinking about building up a small collection. Maybe i try that Z-machine 😉 By the way… u re coming from Olzstyn? i used to haven family there.
@Brian: Yes. Exactly my thoughts! Just got an modern lenovo-machine from work. I hate that kaputt-configured windows on that thing and made a live-usb. Now i just can really do some work^^ (hopefully my admin wont hear that). And…like I mentioned to Olzstyn: i ll look into that z-generation. For a daily driver I thought to buy a X260. Seems to be a very decent machine, and very, very affordable at the time.
@marcelocripe: thank you and hello! Your advice is very much apriciated! I ll try to honor the rules of that forum. Promise! And…i had no problem to understand you translated english. Sadly spanish is not understandable for me.
nice day you folks!

Yes. I am an American but my family roots are from Olsztyn. My sister’s family and some relatives live there…
Maybe i try that Z-machine
That Z61P machine I mentioned is Core2Duo 64bit, 1920×1200 screen. Very capable but big and heavy, so now dedicated to streaming music. Sometimes playing the official antiX music of Grup Yorum too…
