I had three browsers on my computer: Firefox-ESR, Pale Moon, and Link2.
I installed KeePassX when my default Browser was Firefox-ESR. I then uninstalled KeePassX and installed KeePassXC. I was getting cautions that my KeePass file was an old format, so I uninstalled KeePassXC and installed KeePassX again.
I changed my default browser from Firefox-ESR to Pale Moon, but when I tired to open a website using KeePassX, it opened the website using Firefox-ESR instead of Pale Moon. I then uninstalled Firefox-ESR and tried opening a website again using KeePassX, this time it opened the website using Link2.
In short, KeePassX will not open a website using my default browser (Pale Moon).
There is no place in KeePassX to tell it what my default browser is, it is supposed to use my default browser (Pale Moon).
How do I get KeePassX to use my default browser?

::I don’t use the program, but I see nobody replied.
I would think you maybe could reinstall their program to reset things, but that might cause you to lose what you have, so I suggest you ask them.
I found some old posts, but they weren’t for KeePass X.

::Update desktop-session-antix
sudo apt udate && sudo apt install desktop-session-antix
If it says “nothing installed”, then it is allready up to date.
Use Control Centre > Desktop > Preferred Applications to set palemoon again as the preferred web browser. If keypass still launches Links2, then use the alternative editor
Control Centre > System > Alternatives COnfigurator > x-www-browser and set it to palemoon. If that still doesn’t work, change xdg settings (in terminal)
FIrst check which is the default browser
xdg-settings get default-web-browser
If it is not palemoon, see what the name for the palemoon desktop is in /usr/share/applications/ (I think it is palemoon.desktop, but just in case check it and replace it with the correct name in the command below):
xdg-settings set default-web-browser "palemoon.desktop"antiX Live system enthusiast.

::I reinstalled Firefox-ESR and this time I installed KeePass2, because KeePass2 has a better toolbar. It opened the website in Firefox_ESR and the auto-type worked, but it was very slow. I closed both, then I opened Pale Moon and KeePass2. I then selected a website in Pale Moon and used KeePass2 to enter the login and password, and that worked. So, once I have the website opened in Pale Moon, I can then use KeePass2 to enter the login and password.
I probably will not do this often, because most websites that I need a login and password are very slow on this 20 year old Compaq, but I know that it works. When I have a newer 64 bit computer for antiX, I will have more options like using Firefox and KeePass2 without any problems.

::I ended up doing this. I open the website that I need to log in to using Pale Moon, then I use KeePass2 to enter the login information.
Then I am in the website. I do not do this often, because most websites that require a login require more horsepower than the CPU in my 20 year old Compaq can handle. I use my other computer running Windows 10 to login to those sites. The main purpose of having antiX on the Compaq is to learn how Linux works, which application I will want if I need or decided to make the switch to Linux, how to install those applications, keep the system up to date, etc.
So, I am perfectly happy with this workaround.
