I’m running Antix 19.3, kernel v4.19.202-antix.1-amd64-smp x86_64. I used the CLI APT-based pkg manager to install the 5.10.57 kernel update. However, I got the message:

Warning: Unable to find an initial ram disk that I know how to handle.
Will not try to make an initrd.
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.10.57-antix.1-amd64-smp (x86_64)
      Consult /var/lib/dkms/ndiswrapper/1.61/build/make.log for more information.

Note, I’m running a dual boot with Raspberry Pi OS (Bullseye), so I’m wondering if this is the issue and how to fix it?

I also had trouble installing that exact kernel on antiX 19.4. Better install a different kernel (like 5.10.52).
I am not sure if this is because of ndiswrapper (which is no longer supported and has problems with the 5.X kernels) or if that particular version has a different compatibility issue.

Well, I tried to install 5.10.52 but it gave a message to manually configure using: “sudo dpkg –configure -a”.
So, I did that and 5.10.57 installed:) Seems to be running ok even though I got a couple of warnings on installation:

Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.10.57-antix.1-amd64-smp (x86_64)
          Consult /var/lib/dkms/ndiswrapper/1.61/build/make.log for more information.

          integration and avoid this warning.

            remove ndiswrapper

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Why do I need to do that exactly?
