Mister Goo
Hello
I ve installed the last Antix on a old notebook but i still cant do anything with the computer because he lag too much. I m writing from an other pc. The problem was the same under win7, lubuntu live and Bodhi Live.
Under Antix without doing nothing the cpu use is above of 15% – Just moving the mouse in any direction the cpu use 90-100%
Any program i try to open the cpu up to 100%, the pc seem to freeze and after many seconds or minutes the application open.
with top command the process who use the cpu when i move the mouse is Xorg but no more than 55% even cpu is 100%, ram always above 150M/995M
Adding nomodeset noapic nolapic in the Grub it seem a little more fast, but not enough to use it.
update with synaptic OK reinstall xorg OK add non-free driver OK
I would like to use it for mail and video but its not possible (no sound, too slow for video or just for opening mozilla)
Maybe some one can give me the right link to solve this problem.Configuration

::Hmm… open up applications-> system tools-> htop and take a look at your processes running. Perhaps it is one faulty program that is having memory leaks and causing this issue. It could very likely be your graphics card driver I’m thinking. It may also be possible that you need to install some updates, if you are able to connect to the internet that is…
But hey, I’m no big expert like most of the other folks on this forum, I’m only a spry young 22 year old 😛

::thank for your reply SadShark.. the process is Xorg, the system is full update, intel driver installed, the computer never use more than 20% of the ram.

::Your laptop should run fine with antiX.
Did you check the md5sum for the iso-download , but you anyway say it’s the same on win7, lubuntu live and Bodhi Live, so it maybe indicates a hardware defect.
After googling HP NX7300 linux slow, found different topics which indicate a fault in the power supply unit.Just one shot in the dark, do you have the possibility to run the laptop only on battery without power-supply ?

Xorg eh? and you say the RAM isn’t being used up? okay try this. Try:
sudo apt purge xserver-xorg-video-intel
then
sudo apt update
and
sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-intel
and reboot.- This reply was modified 4 years, 10 months ago by Sadshark [p.n.2001].

::Thanks again for your reply.
@caprea : i can try to download again antix and learn to use md5sum ton control the integrity of the disk but before i will try my live usb on an other computer. The battery is dead but i can try with an other power supply soon.
@Sadshark : Ok i ll try it and post the result.July 3, 2018 at 5:24 am #11235Member

::SOLUTION WAS TO CHANGE THE POWER SUPPLY (i m using the power supply of my HP630 its the same connector)
Special thanks to caprea Just using an other power supply the processor usage without using the computer down from 15-18% to 1 or 2% and even moving the mouse in any direction it stay at this level. The max usage level for Xorg is 10% using firefox. I m now writing from the NX7300 and it work normally, cpu usage 95-100% (80% used by web-content : i ll search a solution before asking) but no lag and faster than ever. The problem is solved.
