      Dear antiX team,

      First of all, many thanks for version 17.
      I use it with a very old netbook: antiX has progressed a lot since the first version I had the chance to test (v15, maybe), while maintaining a real responsiveness.

      I just notice some slight problems:
      – I use a FR keyboard, and it appears that some special characters don’t work on the login screen (“é” for example) while they work after (maybe there is a way to change this screen’s keyboard layout?),
      – I also added another user: and its desktop is “mid-french mid-english” while the desktop of the initial user is “full”-french (and does not encounter any particular language problem).

      Maybe you could help me, please.

      Thank you.

      Best regards,

          Hi dolphin_oracle,

          Thank you for your answer.

          Here it is :

          # KEYBOARD CONFIGURATION FILE

          # Consult the keyboard(5) manual page.

          XKBMODEL="pc105"
          XKBLAYOUT="fr"
          XKBVARIANT="latin9"
          XKBOPTIONS="terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"

          BACKSPACE="guess"

          The keyboard layout behaviour seems clearly different between the login screen and the desktop (although it remains a FR one).
          Once connected, I don’t have any problem with special characters.

          Thank you.

          Best regards,

            That is probably an issue with SLiM the login manager used on antiX.
            I don’t think it only recognizes standard Latin characters such as é, but ‘e’ is ok

              Dear anticapitalista,

              First of all, thank you for all you have done with antiX: it’s a very good job! Many thanks.

              With this information, I have tried to edit the existing 10-evdev.conf file (/usr/share…) with the help if the SLiM documentation: that’s didn’t work.

              Option "XkbLayout" "fr" or

              Option "XkbLayout" "fr"
              Option "XkbVariant" "latin9"

              I have also tried to copy this file to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/, with the same result.
              As you wrote, I also fear that it can’t work (I’m a fan of special characters in passwords, it’s in all probability safer).

              Finally, I also wonder about the fact that the second user of my system has a “mid-french mid-english” interface…

              Thank you.

              Best regards,

                For the second part, copy the files in the folders in /usr/share/antiX/localisation/fr/ to their equivalent in /home/username
                eg icem/menu to ~/.icewm/menu

                You will probably need to logout and login in for it to take effect.
                You may also need to edit the menu file(s) to remove the installer part

                  Thank you. I have directly copied the first users’ files to the second: perfect.

                  Normally, I should probably create a new topic for my next questions, but I don’t think you’ll mind if I continue here (it’s about smartphone/network):
                  – first, it appears that the Bluetooth service works, but there is no GUI / no applet : what could you advise me (blueman?) please ? With USB, it works: mount android phone via mtp.
                  – finally, with another computer running Mint, I also appreciate to use my phone (Android 7.0) as a modem (with USB): I would like to do the same with antiX, but I don’t know how to do that please.

                  As far as the login screen is concerned, some distributions use LightDM (it seems to me relatively light): I could try maybe, in this case I will write here the result.

                  Thank you !

                  (once again, you’ve done a great job with antiX)

                    Better to start another thread about phones since someone who knows about them (I don’t use them) will see the new topic.

                      So that’s what I’ll do. Thanks 🙂
