      Hi all,

My daughters laptop is about 8 years old and having difficulties running the latest distro’s. This results in a sluggish, slow machine, high start-up times for applications and also for the laptop itself. On my quest for a solution i stumbled upon AntiX, highly recommended on some sites as the best solution for older hardware.

      Here’s my daughter’s laptop specifications:

What’s there to expect when installing AntiX? Any issues, problems, crazy things i should be aware of?

      Thanks!

Looks to be OK. You might want to have a swap partition with a low ram count there, otherwise, I don’t think you’ll need do anything but install it, Broadcom is quite well supported.

        (I’d suggest 5 to 6GB for your / – plus 1.5 to 2GB swap – the rest for /home.)

        Linux (& BSD) since 1999

don’t forget…antiX is designed to also be run in off of a live-USB, so you can try it out without installing to the hard drive.
