The devs posted a fix for the taskbar autohide issue with 1 changed program and a few lines of code deleted and added at:

        https://github.com/bbidulock/icewm/commit/d70673eaf7e41c25b8bb6d9a7c434a0936eaf0a7

… Thanks for the info. , v1.83 will be perfect or almost. Even if in my personal use, I do not use autohide (so V1.81 is already fine for me).

            Hallo anticapitalista,
unless other users are having issues, and if you can find the time an updated deb would be nice
            to have.
No show stoppers came up in daily use but the autohide is important to users. Most have small screens
so we want to maximise our workspace.

We found a couple of messages in the startup log.

IceWM: Warnung: Deprecated option: sizeMaximized == true
Putting # in front of the entry in /home/your user /.icewm/preferences
            cures that

icewm-session: Warning: Failed to execute icewmbg: No such file or directory
AntiX uses another method to set background so ignoring the warning

Autostarting claws is still throwing some errors about IMAP but that is a pretty special use case which I will
have to look at in depth to figure out.

Thanks for all the work you and others put into antix. It is very much appreciated.

Thanks, anti, I’ll try it here…

I tried looking for it, but its not there yet. I’ll try again tonight.

                  They are not there yet.

You can also download the debs from here and install manually.

Thanks, anti. I tried the 1.8.2 amd64 version with the permutations of Autohide and DoubleHeight, and it works fine, now.

Wait until 1.8.2.antix2 versions appear as your might gt some postinstall error.
If you do get the postinst error, do the following

                      sudo rm -f /var/lib/dpkg/info/icewm.postinst
                      sudo apt -f install

install went with no issues. Autohide looks good.

Many thanks from old man moddit.

I am running Antix on a resurrected I5 quad core 8GB Mem, Nvidia Legacy card and SSD system Drive right now.
When remaining Win 10 users see how this system runs they will cry, boot is less than 5 seconds, applications
open almost instantly. A week ago this was regarded as defective useless and slow. Boneheads…

Yes, People have given me “old, slow, and useless” Windows machines, too.

They don’t seem to understand that it’s the software that is slow and useless, not the machine.

The autohide of the 1.8.2.antix2 icewm versions works here too (for the 32 and 64 bits)

I am curious if this IceWM updated will also resolve the issue with right mouse click as reported in thread:
                              https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/icewm-behavior-question-mouse-right-click/

I am holding my fingers crossed but not expecting this to happen though… So as soon as the new version shows up in repositories I will test.
As a matter of fact I am pleasantly surprised someone is still fixing/updating IceWM. I was under impression it was pretty much abandoned…

The problem doesn’t occur on my system, either. If you can find a way that the devs can reproduce it, it will be easier to get someone to work on it.

                                  hi olstyn,
we are unable to get the behavour you describe.
Did you try with fresh preferences from etc/skel. or a completely new user.
On my system I manually copied over the one from old and latest icewm as well as trying with my previous setup.
new user also no issues on old or new version.

Icewm is in no way abandoned, it is not under heavy development as pretty much bug free.
I consider it to be the best desktop I have ever used. Once users get used to it no complaints either.
                                  Speed and efficiency wins.
