LibreOffice most recent version 7.3.1 is now available for download from
https://www.libreoffice.org/Installation, unpack the downloaded archive and any language packs you additionaly downloaded.
In the unpacked folders you will find the deb files. Install the main LO Package first.
Easy way: enter sudo apt install then a space in the terminal, mark all the deb files in the open folder
strg+a then drag all debs while holding left mouse button and drop in to the terminal, the path will be automagicaly
entered.
Ensure you are in the active terminal window then Press enter, you will be asked for sudo Password then if you want to
install, answer yes and let apt do the work.You can have several versions of LO installed, depending on your personal wishes or needs.
Should you want to remove an older version it is better to do so before installing the newer application.
A howto is available in the excellent LO Wiki
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Install/Linux#Uninstalling_LibreOfficePlease do visit LO Org, if you can give them a donation, the Office Packet is excellent and being constantly improved and
extended. Plenty of howto and in depth documentation available.If you move from the version included in antiX and have toolbar icons you will need to remove the old ones and add for
newer version.If the LO Splash screen annoys or slows load, it does on older devices, go to /opt/libreoffice7.3/program/sofficerc
and make sure HideEula=1 Logo=0 are set. I also start with the –norestore option, a risk, if you forget to save a document
and just close LO it means you lose changes so pls be careful. Set autosave to a short intervall.
# I need norestore option for reliable autostarting to given desktop, at predermined window size and position.
How to setup application Autostarts with ICEWM can be found in the forum.The excellent extension Language Tool works fine but needs an approved by LO jre, reliable is to download from Oracle and
put in /opt/java/your,downloaded,versionMarch 15, 2022 at 10:13 pm #79147Moderator

::@ModdIt: Thank you for letting us know about this update, and also a handy procedure to install Libre Office.
To anyone interested in doing this, it’s not quite as easy as grabbing software from our software library, but if you follow instructions and you are not afraid to try new things, you may surprise yourself and discover that you are capable of performing this installation.
As ModdIt mentioned, there is documentation available, and if he says it is good, I believe him. Read it, attempt to understand it, maybe take a few notes, if you are new to this kind of thing, and then move forward, following the steps outlined, and also the suggestions offered here (if you have a previous Libre Office installation in place.
By the way, the technically correct “punctuation” and “spelling”, according to the branding, is LibreOffice as opposed to the way I wrote it above.

Awesome! Should be no need to build it manually (except for hobbyists who WANT to do it!). Thanks PPC!

::Thank you Moddit
Purged my old libreoffice version
sudo apt-get purge libreoffice? libobasis?
or here only:
sudo apt-get purge libreoffice?LibreOffice most recent version 7.3.1 is now available for download from https://www.libreoffice.org/
Downloaded files from preferred mirror (langpack too)
LibreOffice_7.3.1_Linux_x86-64_deb_en.tar.gz
LibreOffice_7.3.1_Linux_x86-64_deb_langpack_fr.tar.gzDezziped all .deb in the same folder
sudo apt install (space) (and drop from browser the *.deb into the terminal)
And created a symbolic link for my use (to meet my custom IceWm menu) (antiX19 and MX19 too)
ln -s /usr/local/bin/libreoffice7.3 /usr/bin/libreoffice… Worked great.
So thank you ModditMarch 16, 2022 at 7:59 am #79165MemberModdIt
::Hi oops,
pls do sudo apt autoremove, after the LO purge, that will remove the left behind librarys etc from older version.For all readers please check what will be removed, antiX does not have the crazy system D dependancy chains but
better careful than reinstalling :-). Êven if that is really easy. IF you have a recent tested backup ISO or a
personal backup live stick. antiX tools are wonderful.no need for apt-get, that was modernised/shortened a while ago.
Thanks for the symbolic link tip, much more elegant than my clumsy method.

::Hello,
Yes, I do often a “sudo apt autoremove” by a custom script (to update, and clean automatically some stuffs)Also, I have tested the newer version 7.3.2.1
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/
And did the same process with:
LibreOffice_7.3.2.1_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz 12-Mar-2022 20:12 187M Details
LibreOffice_7.3.2.1_Linux_x86-64_deb_langpack_fr.tar.gz 12-Mar-2022 20:12 2.0M Details
LibreOffice_7.3.2.1_Linux_x86-64_deb_helppack_fr.tar.gz 12-Mar-2022 20:12 2.9M Details… Works great too.
PS: For x32 bits, unfortunately the latest *.deb are from the version: 6.2.8.2 (from this archive site)

::Hi PPC,
The backported LO latest was not in the repo at time of my post.
It became available here in Germany earlier today 17 March along with
the patched kernel.There is often a version lag with debian, sometimes a long one which
causes students problems due to functional differences, In just one
semester LO runs on a School/university server, students have windoze
mac os, antiX Mx Buntu Arch Manjaro and no idea what else installed
on own devices. And have to keep maximum compatibility with MS Office
Installed and Office 365, both demanded by some Professors.We are living working and schooling kids and youth in a nuthouse.
This time the backport came quickly which is good.
I also use the testing versions as soon as available but will not pass to
students still in end of semester exam period.@Brian Masinik, nobody building LO here, the packages from LO Org are available
in several ready to install formats, one of which is deb.The advantage I see in the backports is the choice to only take main packages
rather than including Base.
Users please note: For some functions Base needs a Java Runtime and does not
play well with the JRE 11 from Debian. Last time I looked the bug was noted
wont fix by debian, we will probably see it dissapear in a future open jre
upgrade version.known- This reply was modified 1 year, 1 month ago by ModdIt.

will get fixed someday (Hopefully).”Sounds good. While I’m capable of compiling and building packages, that doesn’t mean I want to do it that way either.
When I was a software engineer, I had multiple workstations, so I could conceivably build software on a couple of them concurrently, and also perform routine tasks, such as reading Email while the software was building. I have multiple systems today, but they are laptops, and I don’t have a large workspace, just a folding desk with shelves. It’s not “convenient” to build software now for me either.The presence of .deb packages is sufficient; I can easily work with them and I can make good use of software in compressed tar archives too, so this is good.
In this instance, I won’t even be going directly to LO for the software. The frequency with which I use any Office software today is also limited. When I need it, I may just use whatever I have handy; I’m sure at least one or two of my previously installed distributions have either LibreOffice or something else that can read or write document format, plus I can access Google Docs (and I have no personal concerns about privacy); my really “private” information isn’t even on computers that I manage.--
