      /etc/init.d/emacsd start

      works well from the CLI.

I tried including that line in

      ~/.fluxbox/startup

      — No Joy!

How do I launch it automatically then? TIA ..

My limited experience is that it goes like this:

Since your script is already copied to /etc/init.d, then you run
        sudo update-rc.d emacsd defaults

That should start it at boot during the default runlevels of 2-5, and stop in runlevels 0, 1 and 6 (i.e., “defaults”).

I’ve only used it to install & start zram each session. But it looks right.

For example, for zram, I did:
        sudo cp /usr/local/bin/zram /etc/init.d
That is, copying the script to /etc/init.d. Then:
        sudo update-rc.d zram defaults
That sets it up to run on each boot.

But beyond that, I don’t know much about it. Be careful.

        See these:

Thx christophe! I’ll give your suggestion a careful test-drive. 🙂

Works very well – no issues! Thanks again.
