Hello Everyone, After months of Development LegacyOS 2023 x64 is ready for download from Sourceforge.
      http://sourceforge.net/projects/legacyoslinux/files/LegacyOS-2023-x64/LegacyOS_2023_x64.iso/download
Based on antiX 21/22 with added apps and themes and my idea of what a Desktop should look like.
When LegacyOS was based on Puppy Linux it always had the Icewm Window Manager and Rox File Manager,
which is the case here. I’ve also included PCmanFM File manager.

The ISO is 3.2GB in Size.

I got the same error message as anticapitalista. The iso file doesn’t appear to be there.

Hello anticapitalista, Iso and MD5 sums were up on Sourceforge and had 1 download. 2 hours ago the iso disappeared??
I will have to upload again. Never had any other iso’s disappear. Took a few hours to upload last time.
            Thanks
            John

All files are impossible to download from SF so it is not just LegacyOS
              Something wrong with SF

The Sourceforge link was working this morning, but very slow – I managed to download Legacy 2023 in the end (and am posting from it now), but it took over an hour to download it fully and I’ve got a fast connection (30+ Mb / second).

Just had another go and this time it’s started downloading, but it’s showing a download speed of only 300-400 Kb/sec, estimate over 2 hours to download the whole thing. I’ll leave it for now and come back to it tomorrow.

That was the speed I saw when I was downloading it this morning, though it occasionally went up to 500-600 Kb/sec for short bursts. Looks to me like there’s something not quite right with the SourceForge server.

Hi, John, I haven’t got virtual box working on my desktop, so I won’t probably be able to test your iso soon, but I did like the screen grabs:
                            – you show that a light system can have a stylish look and feel (even if your choices aren’t what I would go for).
                            – I like the conky – it looks like something from MX – do you use antiX’s default conky version? If so, could you make available here the conky config file you use?
                            – very nice and simple wallpaper!
                            – I assume that OnlyOffice is used instead of LibreOffice – it has it’s pros and cons, probably the best pro is that it looks very familiar, out of the box, to what most users are used to…
                            – Thank pinkish icon set is… hum.. colorful! 🙂
                            – Why pcmanfm, and not zzzfm? For any particular reason (ex: thumbnails for movies, mass rename, trash can, etc?)
                            – 258 of used RAM is a bit more than my antiX uses, even running my tint2 toolbar – is there something running under the hood that uses system resources (ex: nvidia driver, etc?). I assume that pcmanfm handling desktop icons does account for some of that RAM usage…

                            Great work!

                            P.

Hello PPC, I’ve attached the conky file. It’s a modified version of a conky I found on line. I’d say the 258mb of ram is partly due to opening different apps to make screenshots. I haven’t modified anything knowingly. The Pink icons are a bit of fun and I wanted something different to attracted some attention. I’ve included a good set of icon themes and GTK themes and created all Icewm themes to try and match the GTK themes included. Hopefully someone can find a look they like.

You will a find what i use to call “Magic Scripts” in older versions of LegacyOS. This time I’ve made them a right mouse click in the ROX file Manager. If you have say a PNG wallpaper or icon and you want it as a jpg. All you need to do is right mouse click on the wallpaper, choose the image format you want and in a second the converted image will appear next to the original. (see attached image)
