      fired up my my antiX 19 live-usb (with antiX-19.2 4.19 kernel full version), installed the 5.6.10-antix kernel, installed the broadcom drivers from debian-backports, remastered, and used live-kernel-updater to update the kernel on the live system.

      and lo and behold, the backlight settings on the s21e are no longer backwards. happy camper. 🙂
