      Hi!

I tried installing an application that stated it depends on systemd. On further investigation it seems the package that is needed is actually libudev1:i386. This wont install on antix19

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
      libeudev1 : Conflicts: libudev1 (< 232:246:3.2.9.1.0antix4)
      Conflicts: libudev1:i386 (< 232:246:3.2.9.1.0antix4)
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

So I tried running MX Linux with systemd as init and could install the package, and the application runs fine. To my surprise, it also runs when using MX Linux with sysvinit. So that got me thinking that I could just copy the lib files from MX linux into antiX (libudev.so.1). Or is this a terrible, system-breaking idea?

(reading my own description of the issue I highly suspect this to be the case, but who knows)

What are you trying to install?

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Just some game from gog.com, so nothing important. For the record, every game for linux I’ve tried to install from gog.com has worked without a problem on antiX, so this is a first.

#biblehumor – Sorry, but you must also have “magog.com” installed as well, but either way, both are doomed! 😉

Seriously though, as anti said, this would be a ***** system breaking idea! ***** (asterisks added by me), I hope anti can further assist you though!
