::Ile,
My 85% setting is so that the pic easily fits in the MTPaint picture editing window.
I mentioned before that I noticed the percentage defaults for your thumbs are unusual numbers. Was there a reason you have those as your defaults, perhaps you use those settings often for something?
Percentage (1-100) 97 92 85 73 61- This reply was modified 1 year, 11 months ago by BobC.

::Hello BobC and everyone
All numbers except 85 and 42 are arbitrary.
You have made Thumbnail a deprecated feature. bring it back for you at 85? You surmounted that gap in mtpaint between 50 and 100.
antixscreenshotrmtpaintokbar version in this topic post# 57751 April 17
offers a button for Your favorite jpg at 85% wait 22 seconds.
Other than that the values are arbitrary.
Want wait seconds in tenths of minute? 2 or 14 is about right for me. no consequence.
Made to give mouse a place to click. not force keyboard input. Have you ever tried a spinbutton for the percentages? the combobox is good for it. .
(I try to have dropdown within window constraint not too long. keeping to its area.)Thank You.
antixscreenshot 0601; 0601-1
the cancel button and close not work; script is missing the usual “if [ “$EXIT” = “OK” ].”
Made that word change from resize to scale.
Yes I am stirring the 0601-1 gui. give me a minute. or 85.June 2, 2021 at 6:42 am #60792ModeratorBobC
::Thumbnail is still there. I opened the range to 2% through 99% so it could be used to generate an icon if that was needed. I did test creating thumbnails and it does work.
If you prefer a different delay for full screen or different thumbnail percent you can enter the numbers. When I am taking screenshots of menus and toolbars it can take a bit to arrange things. That why I made it pretty flexible.
I didn’t try spinners. You do realize we are entering text that happens to be the text of numbers? Not sure if spinbuttons can generate text.
I’m having real problems with the exit button. I can’t get it to work.

::Can anyone help with the dialog exit button problem?
if you run it from a terminal you will see that at line 427 the value of $EXIT doesn’t make sense.
Can anyone help, please?

::Hello BobC and everyone
This is 0601-1 altered
with
an option for setting quality of capture.antixscreenshot06011Qq. s,h as zip
edit: I have been using comboboxtext there,but missed changing it;
please imagine the filetype selector as comboboxtext.June 2, 2021 at 8:49 pm #60814ModeratorBobC
::Thanks to Xecure for helping with the script.
Ile, Do we need the save quality option? Can we choose a reasonable setting to use all the time instead of adding another option? The user can save with a particular quality setting from MTPaint if they want something special.
I hope my 85% of original shrink setting to make the pics easy to edit is reasonable. Again, the user can resize and save in MTPaint if they need something different.
I’ll make the fixes for the button processing tonight. Let me know if any other changes are needed.

::I plan to fix the bug in mine now that I know what it is.
I have been looking at what Ile posts and have implemented some of his ideas, but believe what I created overall is a really nice solution. No different than the post above, if he makes a good case for why a feature should be included, I will add it, as long as I also understand it.
I don’t pretend to be an expert at making screenshots, or writing bash scripts. I just found the current program could use some enhancing, and felt that if I could do it, and keep it lean and quick, that it would be a good improvement for antiX.
PS: Ile, It looks like the quality option default for scrot is 75. Again, if it’s important to have the ability to override it, let me know.

::I fixed the bug, changed the text from “Custom Area” to “Cursor Select”, and added Ile’s Quality option.
If anyone has time, please give it a test run…
PS: I’ll try making a video to show how to use it once people are happy with the code.

::Hello BobC
0602-1:
initial clicking; change mtpaint command word resize to the word scale. (I commented out the automatic nature of this until it can have a switch. i have a mtpaint script that does the same thing in mtpaint.)
The Again condition now needs a & after the antixscreenshot, s.h
if [ “$AGAIN” = “true” ] ; then
antixscreenshot.sh &remove scrot dash b option.
open in browser needs the & removed.
open in viewer needs the &.
Must do more checking of &s and ifs. There is a lot of features.
Nice work BobC.June 3, 2021 at 11:41 am #60868ModeratorBobC
::Ile,
1. I don’t know what you mean by “change mtpaint command word resize to the word scale”
2. I tested the -b do wrong when copying a window, and it did look bad. I removed it. Good call.
3. The reason no & on the preview is so the program does not display the action dialog till you are done with annotating and editing.
4. I took out the & on the browser and other programs called by action dialog
5. I built in the IMGUR script using their id as a default but saved it so it can be changed easily if the user has an authorized API id. I was running it in a terminal session, which was clunky.
PS: after thinking about it more, maybe the IMGUR API Client Id should be left off the screen. That will mean its left hard coded in the program, but normal users won’t have an authorized API client id anyway, and might get confused and think their user id goes there, and therefore it might be better to leave it off the screen. Maybe I should apply for a separate one? In the notes they say to use a different one if that id gets too busy.

::Getting close… I made a Demo/HowTo Video. It’s not great, but shows most functionality.
I took the antiX screenshot utility and added a bunch of bells and whistles to it to make it easy to take a screenshot, annotate it with lines, arrows and text (as well as normal picture editing), and then save, process or upload it. All with a minimum of questions or input.
