        Hello BobC
“Window” Selection of visible window for good result.
Better to do custom selection using rectangle.

When a Window is selected for Screenshot
        the selected window comes back at the top of the stack;
it needs Focus or Raise to allow other windows in the stack Above it. A click.

Inside the script Alt+Tab can touch once the window stack to correct.
Inserted xdotool key Alt+Tab, previous to Keep this Screenshot?
No more rebel window on top.
Alt+Tab does not work on the spacefmDesktop window scenario, success all others.

all version of screenshot antiX can benefit from adding this Alt+Tab touch.
(or some other way to focus the displaced Above window. )

EDIT the following to “Alt+Shift+Tab” add sleep 2s before it
that has not failed yet. the Alt+Tab is not hundred percent.
        Alt+Shift+Tab works better.

        revised antixscreenshotSpaceDesktop to
        antixscreenshotSpaceDesktopwithtouchtoWindowSelection.

ile, I expect my programs to work all of the time with the standard antiX setup, and I would like it to work reasonably reliably with the antiX optional setups (ie it should be consistent and explainable how it can work, like your SpaceFM desktop example).

The only dependency added was xdotool, which might not be needed in future if the MTPaint Devs allow me to specify the ini file to use instead of ~/.mtpaint on the command line.

If I am tweaking something created by the antiX Devs, I expect my changes should help fix any known problems and not create new ones.

My primary goal was to streamline the process and make the program default to taking a pic and bringing it up in MTPaint so it could be annotated, printed, sent or saved with a minimum of keys, clicks or effort. At the same time, I left the preview and save options selectable so that it could run in “ask popup questions” mode if the person wanted more control over those processes.

Also, I don’t think adding hotkeys that are already defined for other things is a good idea. That might be why your changes don’t work sometimes.

              Hello BobC

Returning back to the original version.
              2.6 and 2.7 screenshot-antix
              Screenshot on, buster, bullseye, sid

              Fatality. original version.
Close all windows except ONE window.
One single window open, ControlCentre for example.
              Open Screenshot, selection “Window”, OK.
With selection crosshair Click on the one and only window [ControlCentre.]

On the choice “Keep This Screenshot?” Click “Cancel.”

(The reason a small window is chosen for the example is to have this Cancel button visible while not hidden behind the sole window. A full screen window cannot see this Cancel button. Have the single window in a position where the “Keep?” window is visible. and click Cancel. the test is to Not click on the ControlCentre window before click on the Cancel button. )

The single window [Control Centre] window is now movable, clickable, no windowmenu in window, windowmenu in taskbar,
Bring up the rootmenu will be Below the ControlCentre.
ControlCentre is floating out of control; it is active not focused in a strange above something place

until a second window is opened. and Control Centre gets a Click to focus.

This is why the inconsistent findings of trials. the redraw desktop is bugged (?) or whatever the cause,,
Scripting atop bug. Maybe this is from where come the interferences.
Exaample with only one window open ,
On the new version with deselect -Preview -(Reduce, openmtpaint), select +Choose directory +(Use countr), “Window” selection, OK,
the file Chooser will come up below the single window. a Click to focus. then normal. That is example of the strangley above window behavior that there is much it cannot do , rootmenu below it, chooser below it, lucky to have the chooser as a second window to against bounce free the first window.
What if it was to be fixed tomorrow? Keep working on it. Thanks

scrot issues has the phrase, selected focused window.
The word focused seems misplaced there. (?)
The action button has focus; the window is redrawn in its unfocused state just as it was captured.(?) It needs to be brought back with focus (?) instead of active without focus. It cannot be manipulated without being current. Iconified remain iconified(?)

Ile, I didn’t like all the popups and that’s why I set about to improve it.

The MTPaint dev’s added a new ini override option so I’ll be able to automatically change the settings without needing to use xdotool. As far as in the program, I’m quite happy with how it works in MTPaint now.

As far as I know I don’t have any bugs needing fixed. If someone selects the popups, they will work just like they did before, but I don’t consider that to be a bug.

                      Hello BobC and everyone
It is the “-b” in scrot.
Took out the -b out of the custom area scrot commands. the script is working without the -b interference.
The Window selection problem redraw is caused by a -b.
Cleaned out the workarounds from the script
on the user end it works without the -b in scrot.

rectangle selection and window selection [no -b]

Hello BobC and everyone How are you doing?
Accept request. Get to work on the task. Ask questions later.
One of the qualities to be valued in antiX installer.
Apply same attitude to “Screenshot”, get the job done, ask questions later.
                              Accomodate alternate workflows.
Into antixscreenshot previous to other commands, introduce within the script with,
Create at beginning of antixscreenshot “Screenshot” button/menu:

                              sleep 1s;scrot INcaptur%Y%j%c -q 100
                              yad --title="antiXscreenshot" --timeout=6 --image="info" --text=$"one Full Screen , , \n \n INcapture SAVED \n into... /user folder " --button="capturIN:0" --button="SAVED:0" &

                              Done. Fullscreen screenshot is saved.
Asking questions, taking request, is Custom View dialog antixscreenshot.

Same as we agreed that quickest way to screenshot opening in editor is mtpaint -s. ,, but that is not saved file. A separate launcher for that marked, “Screenshot to:Edit” button/menu.
Screenshot are passed to editor at 100 quality. (my default use png default 9)
scrot must include -q 100 or else its default will skim to 75percent.
desize is in custom dialog; devalue is for editor. mtpaint sets devalue save defaults in settings. Some applications ask about devalue with each save. quality can reduce rapidly with a few saves.
antiX usually demonstrates more than one method or application to accomplish whatever is to be done.

Take a bite out of your Desktop.

                                on this version is not the same as Automatic save of 2.6;
default chooses /user directory, but does not save automatically.
(My check the box configured to point to /scr; This default check the box point to /user, When opening defaults in chooser.)
Do you prefer automatic save? or approval Keep step?
Saved images record with mtpaint window, Automatic.
