Hello schprooodle.
I don’t know how to write in English and I send you my texts translated by the internet translator, I hope you can understand everything.
You don’t need to keep pressing the F1 key to select the desktop every time you start antiX. The last desktop you used before shutting down or restarting your computer will be the desktop that will open next time.
Regardless of your level of knowledge about GNU/Linux, I recommend you read these excellent tutorials created by @PPC:
Short essential how-to list for the complete Linux newbie and How-to install applications – 2020 version.

Short essential how-to list for the complete Linux newbie e How-to install applications – 2020 version.

::The translation was fine. 🙂
The selection with F1 is always required with my new system. 🙁

Unless you have managed to seriously break something that is incorrect,
The desktop choice is always presented but if you just login you will be in
the last used desktop.December 22, 2021 at 1:53 pm #73433Member

::OK. I now see that the last used desktop appears, already selected after I enter username and before I enter password.
